The wood is pretty neat! The only thing I don't like it is how it would create sharp splinters and shrapnels in the event of a collision.
Old cars aren't safe anyway so that's a moot point I guess

 

It's $10 a sheet so it's not really stain quality plus I like Black interior

 

Covered the door panels (I know its hard to see but all I have is a cell phone for pics)



Sanded the roof down to bare metal as the foundation was flaking



Started striping the car down so I can get it prepped for paint

 

Still debating weather to paint it Midnight-Blue or Flat Black

What do you guys think?

 

I'd go with the blue. Looks awesome so far, keep it up!

i would not do a flat color of any kind. It may be kind of cool to do a factory vw paint color

 

Avoid the flat paint look, its played out.

I think a factory RX-8 color would be cool. Winning blue? Phantom blue?

Aurora Blue

 

No it's stormy blue. It took me forever to find it. There aren't even many 8s that color I guess. I've seen it twice ever and it was beautiful.

Nice Honcho you got there in one of the pics, I run an SCX10 for my crawler, it has a pro-line cherokee body on it, pretty cool to see such a sick car and rc crawler in the same pic, totally made my day

 

Stormy Blue!!

 

The beetle is nice and curvy, it should look cool in winning or stormy blue!

 

This car was a blast to see in person. Even though he had it all taken apart it was still fun to hear the motor in the bug.
