Black racing stripes on a Lightning Yellow 8? Thumbs up or thumbs down? I am having a hard time imagining it, does anybody know of pictures of an 8 that has them?

On the one hand, I generally think stripes look cool on sharp sports cars and with the full Mazdaspeed body kit I think my 8 looks especially mean now, so it may be able to rock them with success. On the other hand, the 8 is a very sophisticated car, not just a boxy, rough-around the edges American Muscle and stripes are not particularly sophisticated ...

I would love some advice/suggestions, thanks.

 

Leave it to the Mustangs and Vipers. I've never been a big fan of racing stripes. Although the red and blue on Herbie the Love Bug looked nice I have to admit.

 

i think leave the racing stripe to the muscles, any other car is just "copying" it

 

You're still on the stock hood right? I messed around in a Need for Speed game a while back trying to get racing stripes to look good and I just couldn't find a way to make them look good with the accent on the stock hood.

As for ideas of what it looks like, I'll see if I can throw it together in Forza tonight when I get home and send in a screenshot or something. In general, any Need for Speed game past Need for Speed Underground, any Forza game, GT4 maybe and others I'm sure will let you play around with stripes on the car.

stripes would look pretty bad on a stock hood. maybe if our hoods were flat this would work better.

 

Stripes on a "sophisticated car" as you say wouldn't look right. Your first thought is correct, don't do it. Stripes have belonged on muscle cars ever since way back when and xsnipersgox proves my point.

if your talkin about 2 racing stripes i would say no, but there is a member from Saint Louis, not sure if hes active much anymore, his name is baseballgenius80 or something like that, had a lightning yellow with a fat stripe down the middle didnt look bad at all. this looked more similar to a two tone paint job than racing stripes though

 

I say thumbs down for the 8, just doesnt go with the lines

 

I've been entertaining the thought of a stripe, I'll never do it outside of video games or photoshop though lol. Albeit not the 2 stripe, but the new lamborghini style. Random fact, did you know that this stripe runs all the way into the car itself? Over the arm rest and such.

 

i'm with the majority on racing stripes over the car...

the side skirt stripes however... can look decent if done right. seen a member done it, can't remember the name. and it looked more like a vinyl, with letters in it.

i resorted to only pin stripes on my car.

 

Stripes are just too square, and wouldn't match the sexy curves of the RX-8!

ive always been a fan of blacking out the rotary shape on the hood, the roof of the car and having a cf trunk, actually it should all be CF that would be sick.

Stripes are for muscle cars... just like Yellow fogs are for the Japanese...

it will look funny if you see a muscle car with yellow fogs because his car isnt Japanese while a sports car will look funny if it has a stripe because its NOT a muscle car...
