pics of my 8 with new aero mirrors

Guess what other car they are off of? Winner earns +1 to their post count. :D

They are available for well under $100 all day long, and are power and use the same 3 wires as stock though the wires must be spliced. They fit the '8 like they came on it after slight modification to the mirror mounting area, and look considerably better than the stockers IMO. I think you can see a little better out of them, too.

they almost look like they came off a 911, but I'm not sure. they angle up from the car a little, you can see it in the last picture, but other than that, not bad. I guess I am the only one that likes the stock mirrors. the only thing that would make them better IMO is if they were stanchion mounted on the door.

Nice mirrors! Did you get hit on the bumper or something cuz there's a huge gap between your bumper and hood.

No more stock skyjacker suspension for me.

These are springtech drop coils...the ride is not bad at all, barely noticeable versus stock.

There are no piston engine car parts on my car.

I bought it that way...1 lady owned, lots of highway miles.

Yup, the car has been lightly wrecked in the front before, but for what I paid for the car, I can deal with an extra 1/8" gap.

You like large chunks of cheap looking black plastic on your car? The stock mirrors look like they came off a base model chevy cobalt, with the roll up windows.

I really love the whole setup. As a fellow SS owner I hate to admit it, but don't be surprised if you hear of a duplicate running around in Texas... I got to find out where I can get a pair of those mirrors though. I think they look better than the MS, and if all the functionality is the same after wiring than that is even better!

I know, I think I might be in the minority on this one. I just really like how minimal they look....and the black goes well with the rest of the car IMHO.

Well...you guys are not as quick as I thought you would be. The info has actually been posted and quoted above, complete with pics of the car they came on.

These are 89-91 rx-7 FC stock aero mirrors. You can pick them up on ebay or off rx7club easily, though you might have to wait a week or 2 for a set to show up. I got my set for $65 shipped I believe.

These are about a level 2 skill of install...not a direct bolt on, but damn near.

I had to remove the stock mirrors and then use a cutoff wheel to shave about 1/8" of material from the door where the mirror mounts...the metal between the mirror and the window. This lets the FC mirror sit in the door frame "pocket" like stock, versus being pushed a bit too far forward and sitting up on the edge of the door.

Once I had the mirror settled into it's "pocket" the way I wanted, I then had to drill new holes for the screws...no big deal.

Then bolt them down and handle the wiring...I just removed the pins from the FC mirror plug, and ran new wires from there down to the stock door harness, where I stripped a little insulation back off all 3 wires that run the power mirrors, and experimented while moving the mirror switch until I obtained proper movements. Then I just connected those wires and buttoned it back up. I did not cut off the plug or alter the wiring on the stock mirrors at all, so I can reinstall them anytime I see fit, and all I'll have to do is remove the 3 spliced wires that go to the door harness.
