Pics from D1 Grand Prix
I gotta tell ya. If you've never been to a drift competion, you need to go. Aside from the crazy drift cars and thier tire smoking dance around the track, you got the car show, manfufactures tents and boothes, as well as thier team cars, several live DJs, and schools of Japanese car models. The line of cars to get in to the event was ful of hot cars that we figured to be in the show but then realized that most of them were parking in the general admition parking lot!
The best part about the whole day was taking advantage of my special pass and standing up against the reinforced chainlink fence at the apex of a hair pin and watching them drift all the way around the corner. From my vantage point you could see the car side ways coming toward me, front wheels pointing toward me at full lock and gasing it all the way through the turn. Each pass left its mark by a clould of vaporized rubber blowing into our faces and being showered in rubber dust. Kinda like standing at Niagra Falls and feeling the mist on your skin. Oh, and of course it's always more entertaining when there's a crash or wall bumping. It's been two days now and the smell of burnt rubber and raw octane is just about gone.
Our Project car was located in the K&N area and got a lot of looks and I saw a few of our forum members who were eager to check out the car. Thanks again guys. Well I'll wrap it up by saying that for us it's worth the 4 ahh I mean 5 hr drive through the desert.:D Enjoy the pics.
