in his last thread we tried explaining this to him, but by JDM he just means Japanese Modification Styling. This can be argued till the break of dawn (which is actually approaching very soon)... so as a friend... lets just not go there again.

Haha, just messing. Anyways, most stuff for the 8 are pretty JDM, even MS. I'm sure doing a quick search on the forums will help and look around on the far east section, im sure theres a lot of info and maybe a few pics over there...

and i didnt know swapping out engines to japanse version was condsidered JDM. So pretty much getting parts from japan is consider JDM? So when you order parts from japan or what ever that imports parts from japan. you say Hi i need a JDM Spark plug , JDM Oil Cap etc? Its just soudns really gay to say JDm when you can just say it normally. like hey i swapped my engine for a japenese version or what not. Just he word confuses me. i hear ppl say well im trying to get the JDM look. Whats the JDM look? to me just sounds like a trend thing. sorry but the word like xdeed says is gaydum. And this is coming from a person who is japanese. So the topic is post your jdm 8. does that mean post jdm parts for the 8? or the jdm look?

i think when used in the right context its fine. I don't mind people referring to JDM specs... but yes the JDM STYLE gets annoying.
Granted, there is a distinct japanese style to modding... and if people want to go for that, more power to them. i could care less.

IMO, when tuning for performance... everyone clearly wants max performance to their specific needs and budget, regardless of the country. When it comes to styling, things can get a little more regional in that different parts of the world style their cars differently.

Here's a great example:
I even posted this same scenario over at the jdmcivic forums:
Back in the very early 90's when fixing up Honda's was unheard of people used to call honda civics by their US counterpart "Civic, hatch, bubble back, flatback, si". Nowadays, people call them by their chassis code now? Only until a few people got their hands on a few option magazine tapes or hot versions and heard them calling their civics by their chassis names, someone thought it was so cool so they changed the name of their car. Nowadays they are known as EG, EK, EF, EP, DC, ETC. Take these same fools back 10 years and ask them what an EG was and they'll tell you that its an egg?!? So now, for some reason, these are they're "jdm" names. It makes sense, but at the same time annoys me. People ask me all the time what kind of car I drive, you'll never catch me saying "It's an SE3P, i'll tell you straight up that its a 04 RX8. anti jdm! haha
