new rx8 owner

i just recently bought a 2004 velocity red rx8 with 55kmiles on it.its fully loaded with leather, navigation sunroof etc.
its a great driving car unfortunately the previous owner didnt care much about exterior of the car got some small dents but it has a full service history from day one
which is good.
i drove it about 600miles so far i changed spark plugs last week and today on the way home from work i got a cel cylinder 2 missfiring i ordered 4 new coilpacks and spark plug wires and i hope that will take care of that( keeping my fingers crossed)
here is a pic of my 8.

any suggestions and information are welcome

I just bought a 2004 Velocity Red this weekend, Ha! Mine is a sport model though and very, very clean. My cel light flashed when I picked it up. They have it at Mazda now, since it is under full warranty with the dealer I bought it from. I hope it is an easy fix too. Good luck and hope you can get back to enjoying your Eight.

Here is a pic of mine when I got it.

The 2004-2005 models with over 50K miles have suspect engines.

If so they are giving me a new one! I would be shocked if that is the case though. My new Eight runs like a scalded dog and I traded in 350z for it.

Then you will want to be sure to address the inherent and well-known weaknesses right now, rather than waiting for issues to appear. Otherwise, you may lose that nice engine of yours.

Congrats on ur purchase. My 8 was running great too until yesterday night it's flashing the cel at high rpm and struggles at full throttle, drives fine though at lower rpm.
I still have warranty on engine core till next January u should be still covered too as long as u are under 100kmiles.

^I actually don't get what you're referencing, but since I have an '04 I just bought, and just hit 40k mi today, I'm rather interested.

Both of y'all have great looking 8's. Hell, if you wanna know something funny, look at my sig, or my avi, that'd be three "new" '04 VR's in here haha.

But welcome to the forums, and I hope all goes well. +1 on getting a compression check done.

And Osiris, did you edit that pic any? Because if your's looks that amazing unedited, well, just wow.

I feel like it has to be, compared to the two beside it.. Unless your's was like an actual gift from heaven.

Both of these concerns are well-discussed on this website.

The picture is unedited just took it with my iPhone. Wish it would look as good up close but I got it for a good price so I'm not complaining. Anyways I let u guys know if I have success tonight when install new coilpacks and wires.

This is what we wanna hear all the time! Not those..."compression failed, need new engine" stories. Anyway, congrats and have fun driving the "no more problem" 8.
