No other car RX8 I know of comes from the factory, with the ability to turn the driving/fog lamps on without having the headlights illuminated. Perhaps yours is special?

Whoa... I just woke up, and there's been a lot of [European/Australian] discussion on this photo in the last 5 hours. And, ironically, those are the RX-8s that do not need to re-wire their fog lights to come on without the headlights (which I didn't know before, but I do now) 
Anyway... I wish this was a product shot, because that would mean I'm a photographer on the RX-8 marketing team -- it was 2 am, and I was bored, and this was the result. Nice eye on the "no driver mod", Tracer.

Ibuki concept car. Waaay off topic, but you might see some design features in future RX cars. Stay tuned on this one. I certainly like it.
