btw, my pile is the blue one on the left. i dont need stickers to advertise what i have because i dont do shows. if i did, i would put stickers - no problem. The stickers arent ur biggest mistake, its going completely overboard with the red/black combo.
btw, im 25 - not like that matters. I know other younger 8 owners here, who have very nicely, slightly modified rx8s... that look amazing. yours has nothing to do with costs, but more with a lack of taste.
im usually not so honest, but you asked us for our opinions.

just thought I would add my two cents. good constructive, positive comments.
I think the negative ones are well covered here. no need to add to it.

To the OP, all I can say is:
wow... really?
I understand you how you my feel the need to lash out and respond to some of the harsh comments. No one wants to be told that their pride and joy is a POS. However, before you do so, remember that your thread is called "Tell me what you think". People told you what they thought, as YOU invited them to do. Perhaps it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but that's life, and instances like this will happen many more times as you continue on thru the course of your life (I'm 24, btw...).
Regarding the car, I dislike the wheels, stripe, and window vinyl. However, I've seen the painted wheels look good on another 8, so it can work... If you lost the strip and window sticker (I've never had a problem with stickers...), lowered it some, and straightened the strakes, then your car would look significantly better...
Jus my 2 cents...

where i'm from stickers only cause you headaches with the muscle car crowd. I think the big *** mazda sticker is a bit much, the strakes would look better in black, a CF hood would accent the look you are going for, i hope your turbo is properly tuned, and i like the speaker set up.

I like the car for a couple reasons:
1. It's individual. There are a couple Rx-8s where even if I saw them going the other way on a highway I would know who that was (chrism).
2. It's not all 1 thing. It's got some paint work, some audio, a turbo kit. When I look at my car, I always think "I'm building the sports car I always wanted" and not "I'm building the rolling stereo I always wanted" or "the dragster I always wanted".
I think you have a couple things working against you.
1. The paint scheme is fairly rich. You are two-toning a car in 2 dark colors (red and black). On top of that, the the Rx-8 is a car with a lot of lines. On top of that, you are interjecting a prominant stripe and contrasting emblems and decals. This makes the car visually busy and heavy. On top of that, it looks like your pictures were taken on an overcast day.
2. The decals and abbreviated stripe on top of the base trim of the car make the car look short. The line of stickers and stripe both end at the firewall which kind of visually shortens the car.
3. The angle of your car in the second pic isn't flattering. The car has one wheel turned at the camera and is sitting back on the rear axle. This makes the close front end of the car a mile and a half off the ground. I have a stock ride height 8 at the moment and I almost had to look outside to see if it's really that high off the ground.
4. The reason *most* people don't like decals is because it emphasizes the brand name of a product over the actual product. That's like buying clothing on it with huge logos. You pay for the name hoping it impresses people. When you build a car, you use a lot of brand name stuff, but, in the end, you'd like to say you picked your parts because they were the best parts for the job, not because they were the biggest brand name. I've seen a few cars with decals that were unintrusive. They either put them on the side skirts or bumper corners.
5. The HUGE Mazda brow I just don't get. I have a tint brow that is probably even thicker than that, but it's much more featureless. Most would consider that redundant. Anyone who didn't know your car was a Mazda is probably not worth telling anyway.
I think, if you put on a MS kit, the car will look much better. It'll look lower, longer, and hopefully, dilute the color contrast a little. The decals I would leave along if you like them and those are companies you use. Generally, people are paid to put the decals on for a reason, but that's small potatoes. Then, take some pictures with the car angled a little better on a sunny day.
I bet with straight strakes, an MS kit, and no Mazda brow, the complaining about the stripe and decals would be less as well.
