New 40th Anni owner. Pick up tomorrow
I've been hanging around here for some time now lurking and have now just bought a new 40th. I'm on top of the world being that this will be my first vehicle since a motorcycle accident at the track left me paralyzed from the waist (now hips) down. the adaptive controls are being installed today and should be completed sometime tomorrow morning.
From what I read here it looks like only the SECOND person paralyzed in a wheelchair with this vehicle. Cant wait to drive her home tomorrow.
I also just wanted to say hello and make it known that I'm officially a member. Are there anything i should know about the car in the driving aspect? If there are feel free to let me in on the tricks of the trade. So hello everyone and i hope to read a lot more info in the future
here are a few pics from the dealer before it was sent out for the hand control modification.
BTW --- Yes I have done what you see in my avatar.

Congrats and welcome!
I'm just wondering...........since the 8 needs to be redlined and driven hard to clear out carbon, will that be a problem (and safe) to drive aggresively with the hand controls?

FWIW... I know of one small feature of the rx8 you may benefit from. The main doors seem to almost open to a full 90 degree angle. May make getting in and out a bit easier? Enjoy the car, very nice choice

Thanks for the welcome everyone. The controls that Ive bought are rotary controls (same as motorcycle) which i feel are the more relaxed type of controls that are out there. I don't see any problems with getting around with the car the controls are easy to use. The only thing that i see that I'm going to have to get used to is checking the oil and fluids periodically. But, I'll find a way soon enough. One of the main reasons i bought this Car was because of the info wikkedone gave me months back and the fact that the car is low and the door opening is so large.
