My RX-8 is fudged up by another Mazda.

I was in an accident a few of hours ago, and I'm bruised and sad about it.

What happened:
I was traveling south on a four lane residential road (two lanes going opposite of each other with a median in between) and I see that this older woman driving a dark green Mazda van. She was coming from the east side of the road, and didn't seem to be paying much attention. I thought she was going to stop at the middle and wait for me to pass, but unfortunately she didn't and my car received most of the damage. I swerved away so it wouldn't be too much damage, but I still got T-boned. After I was hit, the car was still in motion and I plowed through a fire hydrant and a street lamp post (a hollow one and not one made of cement). I ended up back on the street and I realize I'm not dead, I tried to open my door but it wasn't budging. I put my transmission into park and climb out through the passage door and I run towards the lady and ask if she was alright. She was hyperventilating and was scared out of her mind. She wasn't hurt but I have a scratch on my neck and a bump on my right leg which is being iced now.

My car was a 2004 4AT with 105,531miles. I had a few mods but nothing out of the ordinary. Even though it was an automatic, I loved that car. What really sucks is that on Friday I just payed over $400 on a new thermostat and belts.

So sad. 8's do take a beating well though. Always impressed to see how good the safety is on this car. A very undersold point imho.

Wow, she really did some damage there. Glad you are okay man. You should have nothing to worry about though, since she was at fault.

Hope he can if that's what he wants... values for 2004 are pretty low unfortunately. Definitely wish the best of luck to you... insurance will be a pain to deal with, but the fact that you have injuries might help with them being cooperative because it's easier for them than a law suit.

One thing I can't figure out in the pics... where'd that wheel end up?

Were you on the original engine?

Sorry man.
I got hit last week sitting at a red light. The guy was not paying attention and whopped me in the back bumper.
The guy was insured. My Anniversary 8 is at the shop waiting for new back bumper which is supposed to be in this Wednesday. After seeing your damage I feel lucky in some respects.
Good luck.

Id rather not tap anything on her. When I said older women I meant like 50-60 years old and was shaped like a pumpkin.

The wheel ended up on the median in the bushes. The brake assembly and steering knuckle are still attached to it.

I was on the original motor.
