Talking My New RX-8...

Well, almost new... I bought it on Halloween day and it had 11 miles on it and now it's got about 2,500 miles. I've been doing quite a bit of traveling in it and it's been GREAT! I know it's the wimpy automatic with the 16" rims but I love it and my wife can drive it too (can't drive a manual-I've tried to teach her in other RX-7s that I've had-it wasn't pleasant...).

Here's what I've done to it so far:
-Installed the complete bra.
-Installed a custom PDA/Cellphone arm.
-Installed a satellite radio system (Sirius).
-Installed a 10" Subwoofer in the trunk (tapped into the left back speaker with a line level adjustable crossover that runs to a 200W Amp that drives the sub. IT ROCKS!
-Installed radar detector (hidden wiring).

This is my first post and I'm going to try to post some pics... I'll get more pics of the mods and add them later...

,Lewis

Looks good LRTRX8. Nothing wrong with the auto in my opinion. That's why the option is there.

hey, nice car, I got the wimpy AT also, with the 16's" but I'm curious about your sub install. I know this should probably be in the audio forum, but I'm just curious as to how difficult the install was? Did you do it yourself? and how hard was it to wire power to the amp? Anyways, car looks great man!

Thanks guys! I'll post some details on the sub install in the audio forum somtime today or tonight and put a link to it on this post. It was VERY easy to do! I've got a nice secret about powering the amp without touching any of the cars factory wiring and without running a cable all the way from the battery...

Thanks LRT for keeping me updated. I'm planning on getting the infinity basslink, I believe it has a built in amp, and its relatively small so it'll leave me plenty of trunk space. Anyways, looking forward to your next post!

Your first and primary goal should have been upgrading those rims!!!! Sound System is good and all but d@mn you gotta change those rims ASAP. Work overtime, cut grass, deliver newspapers whatever it takes!!!! Other than that the car is nice!

Hey man those 16inch rims dont look bad on your sunlight silver at all. I dont think theyd look good on other colors though. Also since you dont have those bigger standard rims your car is actually a tiny bit faster than other automatics w/the 18inch rims.

my car is a lease, I'm planning on buying something new in 4 years anyways, so I dont NEED to change the rims. Also any mods I do, I have to return to stock when I return the car. Big rims only make the car go slower, and the 16's dont look that bad. I'm a musician so a sound system is much more important than rims, I sample all my tracks in my car system.

Denile: I didn't cut grass or sell newspapers to get this car, I make records.

You should reread his comments again, he said..."Work overtime, cut grass, deliver newspapers whatever it takes!!!!" He didn't say that is what you do in your life, it's what you should do to possibly get more income.

If sound is important, then it's good you didn't get any BOSE system with it, it's alright for what it is, but there are better speakers out there.
