I see those 350Z's in the back, as well as some other cars. How did you do against them? Any lap times so that we can compare?

Beautiful pictures... looks like a great time. What type of springs are you using? (your RX8 seems lowered a bit)... and did they help reduce body roll?

It is a discovery day, not a race, so no real fights with others cars. Everybody is allowed to come with his own car. There're 3 RX-8, Elises, Carrera ... and VW Touareg tdi, A6 tdi !!!
I'm using orignals tires, and I don't want to kill them, so I drive fast but not "race like".
I'm using also Mazda sport suspensions, very nice for this track. And it's the high power, 6 MT.

I took "Le Raidillon" at 140 km/h (the pictures I posted) and got a max top speed of 185km/h, in 4th gear.
My time was 3'30". A Z4 prepared (tires, rollbars ...) did 3'00" and a Citroen Saxo Cup did 3'40".

Yes in the pit lane, it's 350Z. And under the TOTAL pane, it's an RX-8 nordic green, passed by an Elise. Against Elise and Catheram, I was able to "fight" in strait lines, even passing them. But in corners, theirs light weight is unbeattable.
And a little tear for the brand new Carrera GT3RS who crashed

At least now the RX8 has earned itself a small place in the rich history of that race track.

:D I recently had the chance to also go out on the Nurburgring while I was in Germany for business. The track is amazing. Unfortunately, between the combination of late opening and the fact that I took too long to get there (missed an exit), I was only able to get one lap in. However 1 lap is better than 0 laps. rented a TT. would have loved to try it with my 8.

Wow - a track day at Spa?!!? Awesome. I thought I was livin' large last month when I was able to see the F1 guys run at Spa, and then the next day, take my wife's 3-day-old Volvo S80T6 on the Nordschliefe (we had taken European delivery of the car in Brussels). I was definitely wishing for my blue 8 at the Ring, but I'm extra jealous that you got to drive yours through the immortal Eau Rouge. Your fuel costs the equivalent of $5.50 US, but driving experiences like this just can't be equaled over here. Lucky buggers!

Hotspot:
I have the Mazda sport suspension, but yes I'm cornering. A right turn climbing the raidillon (140km/h)

Boothguy:
About gas consumption, see the picture I took after my runs ... I started with a full tank. yes, a litre cost +/- 1,3$

Mag: my wife's Volvo was delivered with an empty tank, and a $100 fill-up really got my attention. Watching Michael Schumacher come around Pouhon in the rain during qualifying was really awe-inspiring. What were the on-track rules for your "discovery day"?

The rules are :
. No race between participants. ok you can try to keep in touch with a faster car in front of you. But no late breaking to pass somebody (for ex.), and no overpass during cornering.

. If somebody faster in coming, move yourself out of the line, and use your turning lights to indicate in which direction your 're going.
Tihs rule is actually not very good but it's the safetest. You spend your time looking behind you for a faster car

This saterday is was back to Francorchamps, and this time, still no race but passing is allowed anytime, and the faster has to find a way to pass te slower.

Men it was even better than last wednesday. With advises from an official Audi pilot, I've been able to fight (and pass) Sub Impreza, TT and Intergra typeR.
Pictures to come...

not suprised you passed the TT and Integra, it was expected, right? I had almost the same experience. but overtaking the impreza required skill. You must be good.
Thumbs up!

Thanks.
I admit the advises of this insctructor were very efficient. I made only 2 laps with him but it was enough to feel the difference. (+20km/h in the raidillon) And the RX-8 is really wonderful, its limits are still far away of my limits

I was at Spa for Mag's first outing and was his passenger for a few laps. The lateral acceleration are so strong and long in bends, I started to feel a bit ill actually and asked him to drop me in the paddocks.

We all had a good and sunny day out and met some other RX8 owners.

Mag is slowly becoming a Spa track expert!
