Cool My custom made rear rotary light

I saw pictures of RX8s with rear rotor light and I really liked it but I couldn't find one to work the way I wanted, so I decided to make my own. I made it in a way that it lights up with parking lights but also it lights up whenever I am braking. Also if it is on with parking lights and I brake it gets brighter. So I have use for it in daylight and night time.

EDIT:
I uploaded some pictures of the light in daytime on post number 23.

Here are some pictures in night time.

Well it cost me more than I expected. I had to pay for my trial and errors of buying LEDs that wouldn't match perfectly. Also on some components like boards I realized buying multiple makes the price of each board cheaper so I bought like 50 boards. I still didn't add all my costs but I think I spent somewhere around $600 to $700 so far. I might try to build the rest of the boards and sell them in order to recover some of my costs but that means I need to buy more LEDs and wires and etc. Right now I do not know if it worth to spend more money on this project. Unless I know there might be other people wanting this.

having it act as a rear fog and "4th" brake light distinguish it from the competition enough so that I don't think you have worry about anyone calling you a "copycat".

great job!

Lights look good. Let's see some pics of the housing during the day.

Yes, the only reason that I went this route was no one was making a light this way and I want it to act as a 4th brake light too.

I said "sweet!" but Holy Cow! $600/700? That would leave a bitter taste....also thinking you could have taken matched LEDs from any LED brake lite at AutoZone for $20 and used a phenolic breadboard for $10 to mount them on, they're already set for 12v use. Just saying...

But now you definitely need to start selling these diamonds.

I was just waiting for these kinds of replies. It started the way that you said Spin9k. I started with the phenolic breadboard and some LEDs that I bought. Next I realized it is going to be close to muffler so I ordered high temp wires. Then I wanted better LEDs. then I was unhappy with the breadboard and was worried about reliability so decided to get PCB manufactured for this purpose.

The price of 1 board was half the price of 50 boards so I said I will get 50, if I mess something up on first board I have extra. It took like 2 months and few paychecks so I did not realized I am spending that much until it finished. Now I am thinking f#@*, I could have bought a nice TV with that money.

I need to build and sell the other 49 board.

looks good. these prototype things always ending up costing a grip when you look. but that's what it takes to do it right.

Rotary-X8, the whole thread is about me making the light myself. So I made it myself.

I agree, however I need a 4th brake light.

I would be down for one if the price is right.

Thanks guys, I am going to get busy building the rest of them. I am getting good responses. But the only problem/question: Can I sell them here or should I become vendor first? I really hate to spend more on this project before getting paid
