My 2010 r3

to the OP: You picked up the right route with mods, since there's no AP for your series i'd go with a lightweight flywheel and clutch combo since Charles sells them as well.
Then a lot of seat time before considering to lower the car, it handles pretty good from the factory

Exhaust\intake combos don't make much of a difference. A midpipe alone will be cheaper and better.

Stock catback with a midpipe sounds like crap. A sports car needs to sound like a sports car as much as it needs to look like one. The 8 has the looks right out of the factory (besides needing to be lowered due to the 3 inch wheel gaps which look RETARDED!). An intake and catback allows the rotary to sound like one when going up the RPM gauge. With just a midpipe and factory catback it is still muffled as ****, and sounds like a tin can (YouTube it if you dont believe me). Obviously budgets will play a factor, but if you got the money do it up right. That means get some springs, a CAI or RB Revi, a midpipe, and a catback next! Then you will be walking the walk and talking the talk!
Coming from someone who HAS AN R3...lower it next. You will be so glad you did, trust me.

With the money you spend for a catback (useless) an intake (useless) and some springs you can grab a set of sway bars and better brake lines and pads.
It's a matter of priorities... fast car and seat time are the ones i have. Looking good and throwing harsh comments here suite you. Not a problem!

It's just a matter of function before form. The good thing about our engine is that it is pretty quiet.

In the end...it is priorities, you are right. To each his own. Upgraded sway bars are good. New sways, in combination with new springs eliminated what minimal body roll my car had. R3 stock suspension is very good. No way it would be MY first mod over exhaust system. I just dont understand why you are upgrading brake lines and pads first when the 8 has one of the best braking systems in the world right out of the factory. A catback is hardly useless...if it was, 95% of the people in this club wouldnt have one. Same with intakes. If you dont want your rotary to SOUND like one, then dont bother with opening up the engine and letting it breathe. If you want to shave .5 inches off your braking distance at 60-0 mph then upgrade your brake lines. To each his own.
To the OP..obv opinions vary...decide what you want then go that direction. I suggest comparing some pics of lowered R3s with stock height R3s. Check out some vids of 8s with aftermarket exhausts. Good luck!

It's just a matter of priorities so no need to fight about that.
