Modified Magazine, January 2008

Now that I think about it, it was 205 peak (which was at 4500 when the engine started rich misfiring) and 185 and change at 3500.
Maybe. Now I'm not sure.
Either way, its still more than stock at 3500.
The dyno was in 4th and was rated in MPH since they couldn't get the inductive pickup to work.
I dunno.
I'll PM Todd and see if he still has a copy of that dyno From March.
I only have the dyno I did in MD on the other turbo. It had a higher peak HP, but not as much on the bottom.

Nice article MM!
And it's not just the photography, the car looks that good in real life folks. Though the shots are real nice.
Photomonkey let us know if you do more articles. You got fans now!

Jeff, congrats on the article! It's always been a blast to chat with you at the past few SevenStocks and to see what goodies you had under the hood of your car. Now I'm glad the rest of the tuner world gets to see it.
Photomonkey: AMAZING pictures and a great write-up. I look forward to seeing / reading more of your work.
To everyone else: make sure you send emails to the magazing telling them how much you enjoyed the article.
I'm on my way to get the magazine now and to be perfectly honest, I've never bought a tuner / import magazine and THIS article is why they will be earning my business. I think I'll shoot them and email and tell them that.

Currently, stories by me can be found in BMW Car, Performance BMW, Banzai, Modified, Modified Mustangs (cover photo August 2007), Mustang Enthusiast (cover photo December 2007), Corvette Enthusiast, Pontiac Enthusiast, HPI (from Australia), Nissan Sport, and an upcoming series of tech articles in Mazda Sport. In the past, there have been a few additional stories scattered around Excellence, Bimmer, Grassroots Motorsports, and Track and Race Car Magazine (from the UK). This is my only job. It's what I do all day long; searching for and writing about cool cars that I don't own! LOL
Coming up in Modified will be a 612-hp Evo VIII from the El Paso area, enthusiast-built without sponsors (he DID hire professionals to do the work). That will be followed by a yellow Datsun 510 from Tucson with a mildly-built 240SX motor, for an all-Datsun combination which is both beautiful and functional. Beats the cojones off the original motors available in the little coupe. If I have to say, I think the photos from both of these stories actually came out better than MM's. They were sunset shoots, and I had more time to play with the available light.
BMW Car is slated to run a twin-turbo 2002 with a 3 liter mill from a 2001 BMW X5! It's hands-down one of the best cars I've ever had the pleasure to shoot in my 3+ years in this business! Banzai last had APR's wide-body G35 (Sept 07) and JIC-Magic's S15 Silvia time-attack/drift machine (October 07). If you want back issues of those, you've got to phone England to get them. Heck I don't even have a copy of the September 07 issue yet (so if anyone has it, I'd love to buy it from you!).
As a hobby, I build electric guitars... if anyone wants to "talk shop" on cars or guitars you can always reach me by PM on here, or at www.myspace.com/eikphotography
Thanks for all of the support!
Eric

Damn, I'm 0/1.
Went to the local grocery store (which has a respectable magazine aisle) and couldn't find a copy of Modified Magazine. the search will continue later...

OH ****!!! It's sitting on my desk.
Sorry ray, I'll grab them tonight and ship out to ya tomorrow.
I need to do some more shopping later today so I'll keep an eye out for it. If all else fails, I'll take you up on the offer or ask Jeff to send me a copy.

Jeff I don't have any of the dyno sheets stored locally here on my machine but I recall that they were all posted online in the AZMC photo gallery. Currently the gallery is down since the hosting move.
I think Tony talked about another Dyno day in February so I'm sure we'll have an opportunity then. Also if you have forgotten that Dan at PSR offered to re-dyno cars that didn't get torque readings. You just need to call the shop and set something up. I've been meaning to do it myself since I think I was being robbed of at least 10whp due to a bad trailing coilpack.

Barnes and Nobles worked for me, but call ahead and find out if they've got it. They can search in their computer system and tell you immediately.

Mazda should have slapped a turbo on these puppies years ago and called it the "Mazdaspeed R" model. There's no excuse for not boosting them. APS told me at the SEMA show that they won't make a turbo kit for the RX-8 because a source told them "the engine can't handle it". I say Jeff's car proves them wrong.
I've always said that the RX-8 is the closest you can get to an M3, for half the price. Toss in a turbo and I think parity can be achieved, at a certain price-point.

If I drive it at 11 psi, it'll be called "drifting"! I'll be over around Christmas time and seeing as how you're not giving me a turbo system as a present, I'll accept that drive.

not knocking your car by any means, we all know its a very nice piece of work... just saying in import rags its hard to tell the really fast cars from the all show no go cars without some numbers next to it
