just hope you're playing smart and not taking hairpin turns at 80 mph at the track. You throw your 8 into a wall and don't go thinking your insurance company will fix it up for you. organized racing is listed as an exclusion in pretty much all insurance policies, and if you wreck your car you're screwed.

not to further the thread jack, but most policies now read that any event taking place on a racing surface. does not matter if it is HPDE, or wheel to wheel. that is a risk you take. In HPDE, don't drive 10/10's, and keep your head on straight. But **** still happens, you just have to be prepared for it.

Thanks L8APEX, you're right on the insurance policy. I drove at mostly 8/10 and some 9/10 on the slow corners. The instructors were really good. The classroom instructor was the chief instructor of the skip barber racing school. I plan on driving 10/10 but it will be in a less expensive car. Like my 90 miata that im converting to track only. With most of my focus on safety. Locally in new england, scda and bmwcca boston has events that anyone can run.

This one was 325, four 25 min sessions and classroom time in between. scda still has a few track days left this year. nhis for 250, watkins glen is 260. bmcca boston runs nhis and watkins glen for a little less money.

Lap times were not that important at this stage. Like I said, I was driving at 8/10ths. So my lap times were prob not that good. How do you get into a NASA HPDE event? Do you need a membership or anything like that?
