IRQ5.damn! next weekend off to Knysna 4 a week's holiday. perhaps the weekend after that... considering i've only seen about 4 S.A users on this forum, i think we doing ok. but think as u said would need alot more. that's why i think the WWW.RX8CLUB.CO.ZA is gonna b the solution. WITH. that was quick! the strakes... how do u put them on?? with double sided tape? does'nt sound to stable 2 me. now it's not only ur valve caps u have'd 2 worry about... bugger ordering them if i can find ur car and pull them off 4 mine!! (jokes) the lowering cost me R1350.00 with the arch trimming!! very affordable in my opinion. Big Boss Auto done the job in 1 day. will put some ideas/dates 2gether & get the club calender going soon. long weekend run sounds good. WITH. pics please....

let's try the w.end of the 18th. IRQ5. i was thinking with ur brake callipers, if u give them enough coates of paint u wont haved to grind them smooth as the paint is a thick epoxy based paint. mine r pretty smooth from about 3 coates.

Goog members and Mr Chair
My vote is in too. Was thinking, would it work if we ask Mazda to offer our site to all those who come to service their cars? It is every10 000km so it is fairly often. Otherwise a club would be good.

I have a few problems at the moment, so would rather meet when the meet is in JHB. I support the idea of a calender.

Joining Toyota, as long as jealousy doesn't get in the way, it could work.

The strakes, damn wish those were mine. BB Auto gave me a tasteless treatment when I went asking about LED interior lights, will NEVER go back there EVER. But I must admit, the cost is good.

Chair, hope you enjoy Knysna, I have always wanted to go there but we thought we should rather go see Vic Falls sometime in the coming months.

WITH, thanks for the PM.

I know another forum member called something along the lines nvgor8 (also same plate on his 8). He is somewhere in KZN, probably PM Burg, hope he joins in too.

Cheers

Hi MSENZO. good idea with regard to asking the dealers about their rx8 clients joining. that's 1 way of growing our club quickly... i'll start enquiries A.S.A.P. Vic falls is some where i would like 2 c myself 1 day. if u want the interior LED lights, i found them at Autostyle JHB.

Phat - your ride look sweet lowered. It definitely made just that little bit of a difference that was required... Calipers - definitely next month. I'll definitely give you a shout once I've got the paint. I just can't decide now what colour - I toiling with red or silver. I reckon Silver with a nice black "Mazda" or "RX-8" decal would look really good. But red would match my car as well... So I reckon the decision will be taken in the store when I buy the paint... I reckon I'm going to get the decals from Polak graphics in the mean time. Red or silver, I'd definitely like the decal on it.

So the 18th it is then? I'm definitely in!

Msenzo - Thanks for the vote. I doubt we'll get enough members though, so I think we may have to go with the localised site for now... But the poll is still open for another 2 weeks or so, so we'll see...

I like where your head's at - Could be a real fun day and beneficial as well. The BMW skid pan course isn't too expensive either - R450 or so I think - I've been on that as well which is REALLY cool because the 330i that you use is also a rear wheel drive. They teach you how to recover from understeer, oversteer and straight line skids to steer around obstacles.

I'd love to see some pics of the strakes on your car as well! Post some pics as soon as you get some!

Caliper decals - $2.50 each from: http://www.polakgraphics.com/index2.php

Not bad at all.

So far we have 6 votes on the poll. I just posted a thread in the "Lounge" section because the polls don't get that much visibility, so hopefully it'll attract more attention...

I have to admit I really do like the look of the 8 with strakes. I think I'm definitely going to get some - just need to get some cash in that I can allocate accordingly...

I read a post somewhere in the DIY section or something like that where the guy actually didn't follow the instructions for locating the strakes at all because he found that the top one didn't fit properly - so I think he actually moved the top strake up one notch and it lined up properly...

Can't wait to get mine!

I've got another friend with an 8 who isn't on the board, but is interested in coming on our drives etc. - He's got a Titanium Grey - so there's another colour for us...

It's looking up!

Are we still up for the 18th? Drive to Harties?

hey guys

good to see some other SA owners on this forum, i think the site idea is quite good, tired of listening to all the stuff the americans can get.

Plus i think we're far ahead of them in terms of some of the sound mod's that we can do here. they just complicate things,

Interesting to read your stats on the fuel and speed part, i've done a top of 235 and i normally get about 550k's on a full tank, only with 93, when i'm in JHB. on 95 i get about 490-500km,

I'm currently based in a town called Malelane very very close to the kruger park on the N4,

i'm keen on the breakfast run, but can only manage to do it if we all get to JHB,.

Lets try also to communicate via email, this forum takes ages to load any pages.

my email is govenderr@tsb.co.za

Well, I reckon if we can get an SA forum up and going the site would load a lot quicker...

Um - how do you drive? Those fuel consumption numbers are incredible! That's like close on 10 litres per hundred! Not even Mazda claim those figures... It's the stuff dreams are made of!

Consumption

i noticed a big differenced after i put the KNN filter in, also it's nice to red line it a couple of times, and the most important thing is let the car warm up in the morning till it reaches about a quarter way on the temperaature guage.

for some reasoon, if you drive it cold, then it sucks more juice also on cooler days it does better than hotter ones, and i also do about 7 km on the freeway to work everymorning. i think that helps.

I drive around 40km to work on the freeway too - Strange - Is the KNN just a drop in filter, or a whole new induction system?

I'd be curious to try it - if it is just a drop in especially! Then I suppose you just have to manage the guys at the dealership - or perhaps replace with the original filter when you take it in for a service

Any power increase / difference? - I mean if I could stick in a new filter and increase my fuel consumption, I'm all for it!

Good Idea , Will need this for the club , I think lets all PM the Chair with our e-mail address !

Do you have 6 or 5 Speed , Myself get more or less 450 when Warning light comes on , will probably do another 20 or so k's before fill up .....thats about 470/480 k's normal work and back type driving etc .....Around 8k's per liter .....and I have the 5 Speed ....damn you lucky !.

PHAT
Enjoy your B.Day !!! myself had a bad one last year , R600 fine , Went to play Squash , tore calf muscle got home and someone stole my Bathroom carpets through bugler bars ...grrrr ...SO MAY YOUR BirthDay be 1000% better than mine !

So we are now 5 , all over the place but none the less ....See now we can plan ....

Just throwing this out there .....End of April , I'm coming up ....so maybe a run as well ..?
