Haze the Noob!!

Hey all I just bought my first RX-8 on January 15th 2011!! I am greatly excited to learn more about the ins and outs of this sweet ride. I am coming from a 2001 Mustang GT. This also happens to be the first manual I have owned. I was just curious as to what "trim" this car is. I can see it has the Grand Touring package as it has the leather seats, "blose" audio system, 6 cd changer, and heated seats. I was just curious if the red and black interior was part of another add on package? I will take my own pics asap so these dealer pics will have to do for now.

you got a GT package, the red/black trim was a standard option on the VRs

looks kinda awkward without that front aero flare, maybe look into getting that

welcome and nice looking 8!

Front aero flare? Is that a stock piece that is missing or an aftermarket add on?

I also just bought one, looks almost the same as yours, but doesn't have any of the flares on it. I had wondered if those were stock, now i know. I'm guessing the guy before me just didn't like them for some reason.

Anyone have suggestions on a good place to find them?

So I already have that "mid" skirt. Is that a piece that adds on to that or replaces that longer one?

Just curious, why do you not know much about the car? Personally I research the hell out of any vehicle before I make a purchase. I made sure I read as much as possible on these forums. There's a lot more to owning a RX-8 that quite differs from a Mustang. Just saying so you know.

However, you made an excellent choice!

Lol no worries. I like to keep it in the Ford family and actually went in to look at a 350z but it had a deposit down on it and was too "ricey" for me anyways and made an impulse buy on the rx-8 instead. I love it and so does my fiance!

It runs awesome. I got it up to 130 last night on the freeway with no sweat. It's a 2004 with 84,000 miles on it. Only thing wrong with it are a few annoyances in this thread.

Sweet I want to try and figure out what is wrong with it on my own first, otherwise I am just going take it to a mazda dealer and give it a full check up to see whats wrong.

the front splash guard is not standard with the Appearance Package and Mazda actually says it will not fit with the Aero Package installed. (idiots)
The reason for that is there is a rubber strip underneath the car that you need to slightly trim in order to attach the front splash guard. (takes 10 seconds with a razor blade)

Its' one of the reasons I bought front splash guards right after buying my car because I too thought it looked 'incomplete' without something behind the front wheel to offset the rear skirt.

I had front splash guards. Sold them awhile back because I felt there was too much going on there.
