Grille Trim

I was looking at some rx8 accessories and saw there is a grille trim. I was wondering if anybody had this and what it looks like on the car other then the stock picture on the website.

yeah, the most hideous part you could buy ever.

i saw a picture once on rx8club who had it, looked EVEN WORSE than in the picture there.

it almost looks like its a aftermarket part and not oem, it extends past the bumper and creates an almost mustache look, TOTAL DONK. Super ugly, dont even know what they were thinking when they made it.

I GUESS its only function is to protect from parallel parking and looking donk.. My parallel parking protection is the oem towhook i painted. If someone backs up into my front bumper and leaving me a scratch, they are getting a nice hole in their bumper. An eye for a hair.

Where did you get your tow hook?

in the trunk

(alot of people dont know where it is... so... its in the trunk, theres a hard plastic flap on the bottom towards the rear of the trunk that flips up. There should be 2 oem tow hooks in there. )

its oem. I just painted it with that color shift spray paint and 4 coats of clear. Its been on for almost a year without any discoloration or anything from the weather.

this is the closest picture i have, i liked the beading on it after it rained.

if you use the same color shift stuff i used...

it says to apply it over black, i tried applying it over etching primer in gray and it came out like ****, best thing to do is buy regular plain matte black spraypaint and spray directly onto the tow hook, dont even scuff it up, it doesnt need it.

Then after it dries (make sure you cover every spot) shoot it with the color shift spray paint. The more coats you give, the more sparkle darkle. Of course finish with clear(the more the merrier)

***just to add, i tried using the colorshift over plastidip and got the same results as the matte black, but it came out bumpy due to the PD's texture. Of course, if the surface is smooth enough like a plastic, you could remove the PD off, though it wont come off nicely like regular PD does and can take from minutes to hours, just depends on what the original texture of the item is. i recommend test spraying
