The folks at rx8orders must be getting sick of me by now. This response came back within half an hour:

Hi Jon,

I know that the pre-ordered RX-8 customers will receive special gift(s). At this point, we unaware of the specific gift(s) that may be included, but an official announcement will be made later.

However, I do know that there are two editions of a rotary watch that are currently available to order through any Mazda dealership's Parts Department. The first edition (1001-W9-030) is shaped like a rotor-housing (elongated oval), with a rotary imprint on the watch face. The second edition (1002-W9-030F) watch face is actually shaped like a rotary (triangular).
So, fingers crossed...

BTW, did anyone notice that the rotor housing on the watch face is peripherally ported?

Why not?
Compared to the mega-boring ads that Mazda was famous for, the agency responsible for this brochure must have been wort every Cent.
I like it.

So, how's that translation coming along, Werner? You know nobody in America speaks more that one language (and they're lucky if that one language approximates English!)

Don't say you can't read that! English and German used to be the same language, just different dialects, until the Normans (actually people coming from Denmark and Sweden) crossed the channel and sprinkled a few French words into the language. Just try it and post your translation, I will make the probably just few necessary corrections

Well, okay, but you'll be sorry. My two years of German in school were thirty years ago, and our recent trip to Rallye Deutschland didn't bring back a whole lot of it. I can get the general gist of most of it, but the multisyllabic technowords are beyond me.

Maybe later today I'll give it a shot, just for amusement value.

It says:

'Mazda RX-8: very fast & nice car. Uhmmm, don't ask us about the weight, power or fuel consumption just yet - no really we'll get back to you on that later, honest... uhmmm...'

Or perhaps my German isn't what it used to be.

Werner, ich möchte einen Prospekt. Können Sie ein an mich verkaufen?

I took 3 years of german 12 years ago, and that's looks about right.

That'll be a collector's item... thanks for sharing!

Ich spreche keine Deutsch.:D I know a few words (but can't spell as you can see). It is sad how little is learned by taking a language in high school.

this is a portion of an email i received today from rx8orders@mazdausa.com :

"The dealers will have brochures closer to the launch date of the
vehicle. Typically, brochures will start to appear at dealerships
within a month or two from the first build date of the vehicle. I would expect them to arrive at dealers in May or possibly June, given that this vehicle is extremely sought after to begin with."

i don't know why the rest of the world is getting brochures earlier since they are getting cars later, except they probably have different policies in each country and of course different ad agencies.

what brochure did they hand out at NAIAS?

Yes, but there is a complete extra brochure (8 pages) only about the watch, and I did not scan that one.
