I did some cleaning/organizing of my garage this weekend, and since I have a crazy 12+ foot tall ceiling, I decided to "mod" my garage with a RX8 shelf to hold my tires and other stuff that were lying around. I also fabricated a mount underneath for my spare tire (that I took out of the trunk when I brought it home). Now I just need to rice it out with some stickers : )

Yeah- I had the same fear when designining it... being the geek engineer that I am, I overdesigned it with huge lagbolts, fastners and chain. I figure it should take 500+ pounds before crushing my 8

How about a coat of paint on the walls and rack? Something with a metallic fleck in it? Flames?

Flames... yes! I'm actually planning on finishing the garage walls in the spring (the other side has no drywall... just studs and particle board since it faces outside). I want to do one of those garage floor treatments (textured, easy cleanup, etc)... but do it with a checkerboard pattern or something.

 

I wish... gotta keep working on my wife :D

if you want a floor that cleans up easy use a concrete sealer, don't paint it. Oil, salt or other fluids with go throught the paint but a sealer keeps it out of the concrete. I sealed my driveway and garage pad, when oil has gotten on it I just use some Sunlight dish sop and a broom and it comes right out.

 

I usually had it off for ease of checking/adding oil, and I think I can hear the motor better. Last week I installed the Mazdaspeed shock tower brace, so the cover doesn't fit anymore anyway... so now it's a decoration .

 

Once sealed, is there any downside to painting it, or will oil, salt and other chemicals still damage it?
