FD...
Great concept:
1. Chassis based on a fighter plane for lightweight design
2. Twin-Turbo concept to eliminate turbo lag though it didn't work out too well
3. Designer emphasize more on functionality than aesthetic unlike his son who designed the RX-8. (Got this info from Zoom-Zoom magazine at the Mazda dealership)
4. Designed to compete with Nissan GTR32 as mentioned/shown in BMI Platinum Series Volume 6
5. The car just looks good even nowadays.

There are a lot of tragically riced-out/goofily-body-kitted cars in this thread.
The FB has been mentioned as a very clean car - I think that it's perhaps the 'cleanest' of the three designs. That said, I'm not a huge fan of it by today's standards...with the exception of this one: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=183299
That golden color and those wheels give it a really classic look. Someone please buy that thing and take good care of it for him.
Anyway. The FC certainly isn't bad in my book, but most of the 'good looking' pictures of it in this thread have some kind of aforementioned weird deformed looking body kit on them - either that or some tragically ricey wheels. It's a good looking car but it's already so angular that it needs a more understated lower body to it. My friend has a serious beater of a FC, somewhat scuffed up with a 300ish-HP LS1 stuffed under the hood. Very fast in a straight line. He autocrosses with it sometimes. Not sure how that goes.
For me, though, it's gotta be the FD. I had a really hard time turning it away before I bought my RX8, but it's a 2-seater, the upkeep is utterly killer (it's basically a race car) and it gets terrible gas mileage. All that said, it's still so insanely good looking (especially with the Efini factory mods) and such a bad *** car I still find myself pining for one sometimes.
Also, it featured in the ONE good scene in The Fast and the Furious : the CGI graphic where Vin Diesel punches the naawwz button and it briefly shows the inside of the rotary engine. I think it's the only such graphic in the movie that doesn't feature something breaking.
