Angry Disturbing photos...

My 8 was hit on the front passenger side a few weeks ago. They are finally starting to get the parts in from Japan and rebuilding most of the front end. The whole ordeal has been a real drag. Here are some pics of it dismantled.

They don't usually write it off if it costs less to fix than to replace.

I'm very suprised that insurance didn't claim it totalled and replace it. Though I guess I can see an engine so maybe that means that it's still salvagable... :-/

My eyes hurt! Hopefully you will get it back soon Pico. Have they given you a time frame?

Wow, that's rough... I think I'm going to be sick. Good luck on the rebuild, let us know how it turns out.

Why didn't your insurance company contact Mazmart and pick up a front clip? I bet it would have saved a few thousand and a whole lot of time.

Looks like part of the right apron has been cut out. A front clip can even go behind the firewall. That's not necessarilly that bad of a wreck.

The estimate was $8000. Mostly suspension. The frame had very minamal damage. All of it up front. Im not sure what you mean by a front clip but Im sure the insurance would have done the least costly repair available. The only thing that made me feel better was that they didnt try to salvage anything that was connected to the damage. They are replacing everything with new Mazda OEM. Unfortunatly, that has been part of the delay in repairs. Many of the parts were backordered, and all parts had to be shipped from Japan. As of Friday, they estimate a week to a week and a half to be ready.

So SMigneco, I may have mine back before you get you stage 1 or light bulbs!! But I doubt it!!

Those body shops are infamous for giving those completion days that are almost never even close.

When you get it back make sure it doesn't pull or dart around.

Good Luck

The MOST IMPORTANT thing. I hope you were not hurt in any way at all.

What happened? If may ask.

Thankfully Im fine. I was hit at about 25-30 mph. I had been at sea all day and was pretty tired but happy to be heading home in my 8. I was on a state road where an I-95 off ramp merges into. Its an overpass so there is a tall concrete wall blocking your vision of merging traffic. I was doing the speed limit oddly enough and a 97 mustang jumped out of the merge lane without ever looking hitting my passenger fender. It sucks because Im usually a defensive driver but I was so tired from my boat trip I was totally zoned out. The best part is that the girl driving didnt have insurance. Hell it wasnt even her car! And owner didnt have insurance either. So if you think you dont need that uninsured motorist coverage...think again! Its worth the 25 bucks a month to not get stuck with an 8000 dollar bill.

Pico...you may get it back before I get my bulbs but not the stage 1. I got it yesterday!!!:D :D :D

I will probably be installing it after work tomorrow. My bulbs should ship by 6/10. I will let you know how it feels with the stage 1. Got my M flash, so my car is ready for more power.
