The curse of "silver"

I seem to remember posting this a couple of years ago, but here it is again just in case I didn't. It's from a study done in New Zealand, but I recall that similar studies world-wide didn't differ too much from what is presented here:

"The study involved accidents in New Zealand between 1998 and 1999. According to their findings, drivers of brown cars had the highest risk of sustaining serious injuries caused by auto accidents. Black and green cars also had elevated risks.
Which are the safest cars? Drivers of silver-colored cars, according to the report, have a 50% less chance of being involved in an injury-causing accident than do drivers of white cars! While the results are surprising, more studies need to be performed before we all rush out and repaint or replace our vehicles."

Do not consider what informatino says, if you are not also going to consider what it does not say.
Silver vs white vs black vs green does not make a car safer or not. It is just as likely, or more, that the mentality of people that buy brown cars is generally biased towards driving habits that are involved in the most amount of wrecks. Keep in mind it also says "involved", not "caused". Maybe the people that buy brown cars are more likely to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway for no reason? Certainly injury criteria...
Connect color to owner choice/mentality first, THEN owner mentality to cause vs involved THEN cause to injury and involved to injury.
I wish someone would get it right once in a while.

My own experience shows the exact opposite of the curse as well. In the approximately 3 years that I've been paying attention to such stuff, I've known of one silver to be totalled, but in that same time 3 blacks, 3 red, one white, one blue (which blue escapes me), and one yellow. There were more, of course, but I haven't heard of them.
And my own pristine silver- not one single door ding! Taken all together, it tells me that, like giant alligators living in the sewers, there is no silver curse.

You know....I HATE those type of comments.

It was stated that the color might be tied to the driver's personality but the study didn't specifically address that, so it wouldn't be proper to make such a connection.
Don't be annoyed; conduct your own study and prove them wrong.
If one believes in curses, then they are not going to believe statistics anyway.

I'll post on behalf of the curse. I have wrecked mine twice in the last 2yrs. First the I spun out in the ice and ripped the entire back end off of the car. (1st pic) Then last night I got a coyote at 80mph coming home down the turnpike. I have also had 2 different people back into me in the parking lot. Even though my silver seems prone to damage. I think it is still the best looking color on the 8

THIS. Silver cars (any make and model) are difficult to see because they 'blend in' with the color of road surfaces and are essentially invisible.

Probably because a lot of people are curious like me.
We see a post that piques our interest, and actually search the forum for info.
I do it all the time, but I try not to revive old threads since it seems to annoy some people, even though I don't see the harm in it.

Since we resurrected this thread back to life I will go ahead and add some evidence for the curse I refuse to believe in...
This happened shortly after I first got the car:

I can't say I believe in the curse, but my only accident I was involved in thus far was a test drive in a silver RX8. I didn't even drive the car for more then 10 min when I was hit. Over 10k in damages, and a 3 hour test drive waiting for cops to show up.
