A couple of new pics of my newest proposed mod

From time to time I get these ideas from looking at other pics such as body kits or, as in this case, the X-Men RX-8. The X-Men RX-8 is a nice looking front appearance mod though I thought it was a bit too pricey and it had parts I didn't care for or were not in the vision I have of my RX-8.

Let me start off by saying the appearance package front lip on my car is a recent addition. I still need to find some nuts to attach both the sides so that is why it looks a little loose on the passenger side. I purchased this lip damaged and repaired the large crack and reattached the supports to the passenger side. I then had to repaint the entire lip. At the same time I placed some aluminum grille material behind it and had painted it trim black so as to not stand out too much. I got the grille at a local auto parts store. It is not visible unless you are looking right at it from nearby. It has already stopped a few bugs and rocks from hiting my radiator as you can see a bit of refuse if you look close.

So what am I thinking about doing? I am about to take off the front bumper cover to work on the next mod which I am projecting what it will look like in the following couple of pics. I stole the idea from the X-Men RX-8 and borrowed the look of the RX-8's head light and the taillight design. I will be doing this very soon. I am making them from an acrylic plastic. I will be attaching them via screws and trim tape. At the same time I will be placing the aluminum grille material behind them protecting the oil coolers the same way that the bottom lip has the material which protects the radiator.

Note: it's been over two months since I waxed my RX-8 wth McGuirs NXT. Very nice reflection still, huh?

That looks sweet. It goes with the lines in the headlights, the strakes, and the lines in the tailights.

I think it would be too much. One or the other. I like D MENAC 7's way.

You should produce and sell them or write a DIY when you get around to it. I might give it a shot..

I will do a DIY on this when I can get the tome to actually do it. The same with my K&N intake cover, I just haven't taken the time. On this one though, since I need to get the nuts on the front lip anyhway, it will be sonner than later to show this. At the same time, I will be taking the measurements off of the K&N window, kust haven't done it because it will be neccesary to tak it most of the way apart to do so. It's all a question of time and energy. If I were young again...that wouldn't be the problem. :D If that were the case, I would have made my own strakes just like the DIY one. :D

I don't have the rotor shaped license plate bolts because my rear license plate window is not a standard bolt, it is thick since it has neon lighting and I had to use non standard length bolts to hold it on. :D

As far as these go, they aren't even made yet..."yet" is the operative word here. I am going to make them, it is a make up as to what they will look like. The material will not be aluminum, though tat would be possible if I had stock sheeting that thick. I plan to use acrylic plastic sheeting like you can get at a glass shop. I have some left over from my K&N window cover that I am gonna use and all I have to do is to cut it to shape then use a table belt and disc sander that I have to shape them. Then sand them to smooth and paint them the same silver color of the headlight and tail light strakes. If it weren't for the oil coolers needng air through these holes, I would put a window over the holes too but that wouldn't work at all. After their made, I will install them using screws (brass because of the acrylic plastic needs a soft metal screw) and the 3M auto trim tape adhesive to hold them in place on the fog light side. That way you don't have to mess with putting a screw through the side of the fog light housing which I think would be a PITA to do so.
