Color Decision Time. FINAL.

My question is why dont you want two tone with titanium.
If you really like two tone and you think it will be hard to keep the black color clean go for ---> Titanium with red/black interior. Its a beautiful combo OR you could go with the Tit and Chapparal.
You get best of both worlds i.e. a great exterior color that isn't tough to keep clean and a beautiful two tone interior.

I think that both colors look great, but since you want know which one to buy I would say the Titanium. I feel it is a much more timeless color. Black will look better when it is freshly washed and waxed. I can atest to this as I currently have a black (non RX8) car and it looks damn good after a bath, but a day later it is already in need of another wash.
So I say get the Titanium, as I think you will be happier with it in the long run.

If it's black or gray, there is no contest if both cars are spotless. However, black is SO hard (read impossible) to keep perfect.
Black will even show the fine scratches from sand in the air, no BS. I have only owned black cars, and people ask me all the time if I had my 96 MX-6 repainted because it looks so good.
To untrained eyes it does.
However, with direct sunlight, I can see every time a drop of water or bird crap stayed on a little too long, I can see every swirl from my sponges and towels, and I can see the mark left by every rock and piece of debris.
It takes a lot of work to keep black looking good. If you cherish the car, and don't mind washing the car once a week or more, go with black. But if you are one of those lazy bastards who let weeks of dust and dirt ruin a black car, then please get gray. I hate it when I see a nice black car covered in dirt.
There is nothing wrong with gray, it looks nice, but wash a gray car and walk away, and it will look a little better. However, if you wash a black car, your jaw will drop every time.
Being the hypocrit that I am, I think I am actually going with yellow. I have always had black cars, so I think it is time for a change, and the RX-8 is one of the few cars that truly deserves to yell "look at me" as loud as possible. Black is still haunting me though.

I love the black one but the colour is your personal decision but... i love this color beacause its a easy colour...im explain it... if you have any problen whit it for example a little crash when you paint the piece another time you don't see a diferent tone in the car's paint and swisfref is you don't want to see your car in every coner the paint is only a little part of solution i thing you can't purchase some performance kits its more easy and more funny than try a rare colour

2010 Prius - Miss the 8
monte, just buy the car by now, it's been a month since your first post that you were going to buy the Rx-8 that day. All the colors are great.
Wonder who is the youngest owner here that paid for the car themselves without having their parents fork over the money?

Titanium or Black...
I've got the Titanium 6 speed with GT, appearance and rotary package. I also had a "color crisis" so to speak between the black and the titanium gray. Here's my observations/rationale for my final color decision (obviously no reflection on those who have chosen other colors ;-):
Black
-"Stealth" look, covert operations kind of suggestiveness
-Had two black trucks...yep, they were hard to keep clean!
-Equally hard to hide scratches; color showed scratches way too much
-Not a common color for high performance sports vehicles, it seems like.
-Color didn't seem as "rich" or as "deep" as the titanium
-Color didn't seem very "inspiring"
-Looks "killer" after a fresh wash and armor-all on the tires...hard to beat there
Titanium
-Quietly understated appearance
-Elegant color...makes the decision to purchase a high performance car (almost) seem rational
-Better metallic depth and appearance (to me, of course)
-Gets dirty just like the black, but doesn't seem to show it as much
-Looked better under the dealership lights at night to me
-Cool name for a color
Honestly, I think you'd be pleased with either color, particularly if you're considering the more "subdued" look as opposed to the red, blue or yellow, though the blue is on the border between the bright "sports car colors" of red and yellow and the black/silver/titanium.
For me...no regrets, and plenty of satisfaction. The best part is the driving. You probably don't want to make it a showpiece that you don't drive for fear of getting it wet, dirty, eventually scratched, etc.
So, the decision is...?

17 baby.
Just got acceptance letter.
Ordering car monday morning, no if ands or buts. I'm 100% Sure. COlor decision MUST be made this weekend and i will order it monday.
Scenarios:
Black. 2tone red leather(gt). appearance. spoiler. rotary acc. (possibly tints?) (at dealership with 194 or 294 miles on it (don't remember)) Will take 2 weeks to have it in my hands (after all mods put on)
T.gray. 2tone red leather(gt). appearance. spoiler. rotary acc. (possibly tints?) (On boat somewhere shipping to them, will arrive in january some time.)0-1 miles on it.
These are my 2 options. I'm haveing the most hard time to decide. I've only seen 1 car posted w/t.gray n red interior.
This is the hardest decision ever. Please help guys.. Please help.
Monday morning i purchase a mazda rx8 *or at least a DP will i pay fully :-/*
And to mention: i'm 17, like to be noticed, buisness tycoon type (www.surreal-media.com ) and ready for the girlies.
Help!

Well Monte, it is a tough decision. Took a look at your web site and saw a very creative mind at work...makes the decision to buy an RX-8 easy to follow; great car, outstanding looks, breaks the usual sports car mold, super lines, etc. I would have thought of the colors you'd have also been inclined to look at the blue; it would be a great reflection of your work and creativity. However, that said, and if the blue is not an option, then the Titanium is the only one that really seems to fit the type of work I saw in your web site: professional, elegant, streamlined, purposeful, no-nonsense sports car for a man who know what he wants kind of appearance. For you, I'd say either the blue or the titanium. If not the blue, then definitely the titanium.

You know me too well. Wow.
Blue was hands down my first choice. Slowly after i decided against it... till this day i don't know why ;-/
Anyways, the titanium is very nice, shows body lines more then the black. I wish people would post their appereance loaded black/titanium rx8's. I"ll be going back to the dealership tomorrow to snap a few pics.
I'll post them ofcourse, but hey, gixxer2go, great advice
And thank you for your kind words about my company . i'm not the head designer, i'm CEO, handle mostly behind the scenes work/clients, although I do have a knack for design as well.

Uhh...how many RX8's do they have at this "dealer" you go to. every dealer around me has at least 10 RX8's in stock. You should be able to see all the colors and stuff right there. And hurry up and get the damn car already.

buying a yellow car
re: good price because you drive them crazy!
No offense, I meant it humorously. One technique for getting a good deal is to get the salesman to invest more and more time into making the sale to you. My uncle plays that game very well. At some point the salesman wakes up and realizes just how much time they've put into the deal and that their dollars per hour are dwindling. They become motivated to finish and close the deal. This takes the kind of patience and tolerance for BS that I don't have. It also has to appear innocent or at least not a blatant con - thus the art of BS. It sounds like you might have achieved the same effect without planning it (and without the BS), by repeatedly going back and agonizing over the color. You succeeded in building up the tension there, and on this thread as well. I can't wait to find out what color you finally get!
At this point get the yellow you have used up so much concentration get the yellow on this that you may be at the point of being susceptible to subliminal get the yellow suggestions. Be very get the yellow careful as you finalize your color decision get the yellow this weekend!
Again, best of luck to you I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever color yellow choose.

Black looks awsome but be ready for all the drawbacks that come with a black car. You have to wash often, scratches are much easier to see. (And you will get scratches no matter how hard you try not to.) Much hotter in the summer time.
Myself, I was torn between titan silver and sunlight silver and finally decided on sunlight silver and have not regretted the choice. Now my second favorite color is red.
The titamium is too close to a blue color for me. So between the two you are struggling over I would say go with the black. I like how the black hides the lines and makes the car look like one solid continues shape.
