Camera mount
I wanted to make a steady camera mount for the inside of my car and to keep it as simple as possible. Here's what I came up with:
This seemed much simpler than the other solutions I came across on this site (through the headrest, tripod & bungee cords, bracket through the trunk, etc.) My version clamps directly to the baby car seat anchor point. I got the hardware from filmtools.com. Its high quality stuff. This setup is also very versatile for creative mounting ideas. I'll try and post up a sample clip later on.

The mount is pretty solid. The video comes out smooth too. The really big bumps will make it shake a little but that's to be expected.

^^That's where I got the idea from. The setup pictured above would be too close to the rear window to fit the camera so I added one of these clamps to make it fit.
When taking a video, I just recline the passenger seat so you don't see it.. The view is neat because you can also see what the driver is doing.

Nice. For some reason, I thought you and your car were in Asia somewhere, with the wheel on the other side. I couldn't figure out why you would want a view of the back of your seat! haha.

I did a mount under the pass thru with 1 hole drilled thru the sheetmetal. I have a wooden dowel that goes into the little compartment there for additional stability.

I would guess that one thing with the camera mounted this far back you need to zoom the lens to get much view out the windshield and on the track, which would tend to amplify any shaking. Also the offset nature from the mount hole would encourage shake.
Could be wrong, but that's what my experimentation would indicate. Do you have an vids available, I'd like to see how well it works?
Certainly looks fancy and professional .
Another thought though - this would be awesome for video to the rear!

i think this idea is attractive is because it uses a readily available ANCHORING point in the car to mount the camera, no drilling/extra modifications required, and it WILL be stable because it's mounted to something that's designed to hold a lot heavier stuff, like a child seat.

I would reccomend picking up a wide angle lens, I got one for my Sony MiniDV cam, and its amazing how much more it will let me take in on the sides of my video.

I did get a pretty good video yesterday on a trial run, but I don't have the means to upload it at the moment...

Update: made a little sample video. The resolution is pretty low since it came off my digital camera rather than my camcorder. (I'm unable to work with the camcorder footage on my computer since it has no dvd drive.) But it should give you an idea of how the footage comes out using my camera mount.
