ROOF is getting done starting tomorrow. Take a closer look at the pics
hood and trunk still need to be waxed and all that, the first pic shows a pic of a section I waxed real quick, so you can see the Blue color carbon.

Yeah, roof will be a CF overlay, windshields are getting pulled tomorrow. NEWCASTLE's 8 looks real good in pictures but when I saw it in person at SS13 it definitely DROPPED my JAW. I like the fact that having a CF ROOF, even being an overlay requires time money and *****, and the end result is a custom unique 8 that stand out of the crowd. I have had my mind set since SS13 to do nothing but custom work to my 8 both in and out from now on (besides the Vertex kit which eventually probably mold into Carbon but thats ^$ up there. As for Carbon work DARKIMAGE13 has me beat. FULL CARBON (except the roof and doors), his fenders are sex his side skirts are molded from the wider cf fenders up front to the wider cf.fenders in back, real nice job. He even had a custom hood with a.reverse rotary shaped thingy. I wish I could post more pictures of his car his car but by looking at his albums im sure he doesn't want anything posted other then what he uploads. He needs more detsiled pictures. Nothing does his car justice, other than seeing it in person. Talk about time and money.

zumn: one little recommendation
The small trim pieces that go on the roof (next to where the overlay is going), you might want to consider doing those in black to better match the CF.
Tim didn't do that originally and rather regretted it when I pointed out how it would look of those were black. He had that remedied last month when his car was back at Auto Explosion getting more custom work done.

Lookin' great man, can't wait to see your car when it's all finished~!

Either I move to one my sisters or aunts houses outside of vegas (not move but I said it like that for a reason) and drop anything reasonably priced in it not worrying about SMOG ( swap for a FD, LS1) or stay here and hope Brian Hinson keeps telling me every week that the LSx swap kit will be available. If it does become available I plan to fo it legally and make the B.A.R. Inspection apppointment and all that but it will cost more because I wouldn't be able to do an LS1 because of the RX8, and iwould have to cough up more change for the LS3 . In the end LS3 $= Built Renesis BNR turbo $. Life are full of options  The engine is still up in the air. Im concentrating on finishing my car cosmetically before the engine. Im in NO rush.

^yeah might as well do it in that order then if you are waiting for the kit to eventually become available. Hell that really doesnt sound to bad actually and may be a swap I would want to....maybe

Jedi- ill stop by my shop tomorow and take a second look. Mine faded but was going to repaint them along with the car. Although one reason I was considering painting them black was to better line up the width of the caRbon from all three areas Front to Rear.

yeah your right Rev, but thats why CF makers dont bother checking their mold after like every 10 copies using the OEM pieces, not only that but their skeletons are crap The way the carbon is taken out of the mold will make your butt hole pucker and your eyes squint. Ive seen this process step by step by step by step. And thats where the possibilty of the mold being warped or damaged needs to be periodically checked. In my case the first attempted hood had flaws so a new mold was made. Fitment has been checked and adjusted to Perfection. The trunk fits with the weather molding perfectly. Companies sometimes concentrate more on pushing out their product and overlook quality control. JAPAN CF Makers are good at QC which is why they are so pricey , RE-A as example on S2 Carbon products. Ive learned the hard way , you have to pay to play.

WEIGHT: my trunk IS lighter than SEIBONS, and stronger . I will post a detailed video tomorrow of the trunk comparisons. And their craftsmanship.

Both my hood and trunks skeleton will be paint matched WB when my car is resprayed. My OEM pieces are also being resprayed and trunk shave/fill .

Izzys S2 R3 kitted might be next.

Im not trying to act cocky, Im just proud Im doing things right and the way it came out.

PDX HAK - No Overlay. Its Blue and Black carbon fiber. Not sure of the clear resin they use but yeah. Originally the blue carbon is a different shade lighter blue so I took a big risk in the color but came out great. The skeletons for both hood/trunk are fiiberglass. HOOD: I purchased a used SEIBON hood for the underside skeketon mold (thanks Rotary Rocket), and used my OEM hood for the top mold for OEM fitment. TRUNK: The used SEIBON trunk (thanks Rotary Rocket) I purchased was crap all around so I ended using my OEM trunk for the trunk mold.

Im not saying Rotary Rocket sold me a cheap product, I jumped for the purchase knowing my intentions for their purpose since supposedly SEIBON fitment is one of the best , which they even claim on their site. As far as Carbon Fiber, yes its all the same. How and who makes i is not.

edit: PDX , farther away pics tomorrow or once the roof is done. From 10ft back or more it looks like Black CF. In low light- black... full sun- just like that last picture. There are pics I posted already that show from a short distance.

edit 2: Roof- is the only thing that will be clear coated. Mazdatrixs roof is well priced @ $500+, thats about what an OEM roof costs. To put that sucker on is +$500 at least ..... (labor $ + ($300 new windshield+moldings weather stripping). I know NEWCASTLE & I each paid more than that.
