fellas.. it's not a big deal. i honestly don't see anything personal in what rotr8 said, and nuegenracing, don't feel like you have to defend t-rex-8, he's taking the criticism well and i feel like he isn't affect by it.

I don't see it as criticism... Its other peoples opinions. Criticism is normally give from people "above" you or in a teaching position, or when critiquing is asked for. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions so naturally I find no offense. Thanks for the support however Brandon, I've had quite a few PMs sent to me chuckling at some comments made, but at the end of the day, we all have our own taste.
Comments like these are the ones many are referring to but to calm the waters I'll offer my end of the rebuttal...
Its silly for one to make an assumption that I would "justify" the lip being "pinched" is fitment... You yourself have this Lip (or one similar to it) and in that case you'd know the lip has perfect fitment straight from Evo-r... I the car has many custom CF pieces made for it and it would have been nothing to leave it straight, but say I pulled up to your car, now you have "twins" Naturally mines is more modded aesthetically, but I had this lip before the wheels and trunk and what nots so I rather not chance running into someone with the same look. Side by side, it would easily be interpreted as "aggressive" compare to the docile normal CF lip.
"Splitting my hood" is a horrific attempt at making a point where none needs to be made. The car sits how it sits because thats exactly how I want it to be. At the end of the day, the fact people question it is EXACTLY the angle I was going for. I don't want people to look at the car and be like.. "Oh ok, its another Grey RX8 with a CF lip... Seen it before *yawn*" Its suppose to stand out.
its just seems that from the top of the lip not matching the line of bumper you did everything you could by splitting it to make it fit, and then justify it as trying to be original...
I dont believe that anyone is attacking you but theres really no clear view of why you did it,,, why haven't you go split your hood in half and reseems it with a pinch in the middle, Im guessing its because it fits just fine,,,
Im not trying to be an *** but what sparked this idea...
And thinking outside the box has nothing to do with looking good either for those who are concerned...
you r car looks great but its not because your chin spoiler is pinched thats all...

I don't know, I kind of like the slightly beat up, weekend drifter look that a lot of S13's rock. I think T-ReX-8 has pulled this off nicely. It's not a completely clean 8, it's a little rough around the edges. Broken (or modified) front lip, holes in the side from missing aero flare, crazy wheels that require body modification to fit, flat black accents and raw CF. Not exactly clean but it works.
Only reference I can see is the Aero flare holes which you only can see in the pics due to editing and angles, when driving the car or viewing it in person the car sits too low to notice. Those however are a minor issue because my CF flares were being made (they're done) and I've simply yet to install them because a) Its been raining and b) they sit about 1/2" off the ground...
Other than that the tires even have the "wear nipples" on them, the matte black finished pieces simply go wit the theme of the car and all the CF pieces on the car besides the gas lid (The clear coat on it matches the clear on the body) have a gel coated finish and are shinnier than the paint with zero fading/yellowing in any of them...
If it was my point to look like the drifters then I would have failed miserably lol. There's not a scratch or dent/ding on the car or wheels (I plan to put some nice rub marks on those tires this weekend though!)..
There's really no specific category I was aiming for with the build. I just didn't want it to look like an RX8, dunno if that makes sense, but its the kind of car that I get more comments from people such as "I usually hate RX8s, but that sh*ts clean.." or "RX8s usually bore the hell out of me but thats dope..." and at the gas station before I just got home "RX8s usually look like chick cars, or have no *****, but thats badass!" Coming from a guy who rolled up in a murdered out C6 Vette.
To each their own I guess.. At the end of the day, we're all bros.

you see where I m coming from though right, If I were to walk up to your car I would ask "why is your chin spoiler broken like it is?"
This isnt the first time youve posted pics of it and Ive been wondering this for a while now,,,
And you may be right about citing a split hood as an example, what I was trying to get at was that things like this arent typically associated with intent or design and may be interpreted as WTF happened to your chin spoiler,,,
Not everyone conforms to boring cliches like "well if it works for you" and "as long as you like it" those statements are usually spouted by those whom really have nothing interesting or intellegent to contribute anyway...
I was just trying to understand your perspective thats all...

It will, its hard to PS that in, the only reason it show up in your pic is because of the contour or the glass which essentially is a miniature profile of our headlights

blasphemy,,, get that yellow thing outta here,,,,
j/k yeah there are several cars that have interesting running light setups, I think if I werent making these from scratch I would go with the GT3s lights rather than the caymans but the angle is too steep, and wouldnt match without major working over of the bumper...

I 'll see what I can do in the next couple days about coming up with new designs...
another factor Im working on is consideration of mass producing them and bringing them to the 8 community, so the more imput and feedback I get from you guys the better the end product will be...

yup same ones, but like I said before the contours dont really mate too well,,,
Making it custom from scratch will insure fitment and ease of intallation,,,
gonna bring this up to Cam this weekend and sell the kit through Pettit...

the fabrication of the housing will be sinch, but attatching it to the bumper will be the tricky part, but Ive got some ideas, though,,,
The hard seller will be that this would be a permanent mod to the bumper, once you use the template and cut out the hole there's no going back,,, that may be my saving grace though with regards to attatchment, dont have to worry about install, removal, and reinstall.
Accessing the lights to change bulbs would have to be done via taking the entire bumper off, which happens to only take only a minute or two...
