next mod:

replica mazdaspeed front bumper ( havnt found any pictures online of a 40th with mazdaspeed parts, first in the world?? ) ~400-500 bucks
or
replica mazdaspeed spoiler ~ 700 bucks
or
aem polished intake ~300 bucks
or
25mm spacers ~150 bucks
or
Lotek gauge pod and prosport gauges ~300-400 bucks.
or
garage line turboxs headers (scared about engine warranty, and install is a bitch n' a half) ~ 600 bucks
or
BHR midpipe with 2nd bung ~450 bucks

Im thinking mazdaspeed front bumper first, the fitment is pretty good and if i did the prepwork myself, painting would come out to ~250 bucks. Im just trying to see how much the guy would be interested in selling it for and how much the shipping would be. If shipping is $150, and i pick it up for $150, that comes out to $550. Ill have to look into the greyhound service to see if its cheaper that way.

Lets get modding fellow 40th anny guys! It seems like im the only one doing anything

from what i've read, the replicas arent made with half the quality of the mazdaspeed kits so you may wanna watch out for that. Also the fitment can be sketchy. I'm guessing that no one has it on our car because its pretty hard to match that paint and no one wants a different colored front bumper. as far as your list goes, I'd eliminate the headers completely. It makes the rotary sound pretty ricey and won't add anything anyways. The only thing on the list that would really do anything is the midpipe so that would be my vote.

Because the rest of us are broke

I also have a truck and just spent a **** load of money re-doing the suspension front/rear (including coilovers, and new tires). Having two vehicles to play with gets expensive!!! But I have no regrets since the truck is awesome during the winter months, which is what I use.

Also, as I've gotten a bit older, I've become more interested in spending my money on things that actually enhance performance directly, or things that are functional. A mazdaspeed bumper - as badass as it looks - for example, is not something on my priority list right now.

Having said that, I am preparing to get a decent set of coilovers next. I've been wanting to start auto-X. So that's a mod that directly enhances performance. And I want to do it the right way, so that means I have to wait and save money.

Next would be a set of gauges. I would really like to monitor the real pressure and temperature of my oil.

But I always enjoy watching other people spending money on their junk. So keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey EricB I'm selling a Ti Grey genuine MS front. For the price you'll pay to have everything fixed up and installed on your car, it will probably be more or less the same as what you'll get for a replica (which is more than you have listed, btw).
If you're going to play the mod game, go authentic, or go home

He is an idiot so don't try to help him. He obviously missed the hundred million threads on the internet about replicas never fitting right.

thanks for the offer soldier, but i have an eye on a mazdaspeed replica that requires VERY MINIMAL fitment work. Ive seen pictures of it mounted up and the corners require minimal adjustment to fit perfect.

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...8&d=1334419990

Honestly, the 8 is just my daily.. i cant see the point in buying authentic when i will be 3.6 inches off the ground, and i plan on getting an FD to suck my money pit dry. Besides, the chances of me getting into an accident is higher than someones rx8 that they only drive during the summer, id rather let someone else buy the authentic piece.

If it were me, I'd go with the spacers first. Your car is too low not to have them, plus they're cheap and will add a lot to the look of your car. I'd get the RB oil cooler screens too- they're cheap, easy to install and look pretty cool too

As for me... I'm getting some Tein S-tech/H-techs for my 40th pretty soon. I can't decide which ones yet. Clear corners coming too.

i dont know where in the world youre finding 150 bucks for spacers cause i got mine for 300 for all 4. Unless you mean 150 per pair. Or unless theyre cheap ebay brand which i wouldnt get.

brilliantblackrx8 showed me a set(4) on ebay for ~150 bucks and they were made by the same company that makes some other brand (i forget what it was).

I think in the mean time thats what im going to do. BB said that 25mm would bring it flush which is awsum.

As for trochoid, i would stay away from any springs. Unless you buy them and put them in yourself it becomes very expensive, and at that point just buy coilovers with adjustability. Besides ive seen stechs in person, and i couldnt even tell that their car was lowered.

clear corners are also really good upgrade, try to get a set used on the forums, i got my set for 35 bucks

Yeah, I just can't commit that much money for coilovers right now, and if I could, I'd probably get the RB exhaust.

I was thinking getting the S-techs because I saw pico had them on his car before he went to c/o's, and they looked great. I think some people just don't preload the springs correctly and don't get the actual drop of the spring. I'd do the install myself and can get the springs for $175- which I don't think is bad at all for a better stance/ handling. Hopefully the bilsteins should last a little longer with the drop than stock shocks too.

Handling difference is negligible at best. You are correct on the preload issue. EricB is just upset that he installed the springs wrong.

There is nothing wrong with eBay spacers if they are hubcentric. I have a set of 33mm that aren't hubcentric and they were fine but it isn't ideal

I dont think the handling will be effected by the springs by much. It might feel bumpier though which is fine for me. Take a look on the various stickies for springs for how much drop each spring gets you.

If i were to do it all over again, i would get H&R springs, the advertised drop is not what people seem to be getting. Its closer to 2inches which would get you as low as i am now.(i didnt preload my rears). Go big or go home, or buy coilovers is what i did. The stechs are considerably more stiff than oem springs so that will speed up its eventual demise of the shock. My sprints are a little stiffer than oem but at the same time the 2inch drop is extreme and will lead to the shocks demise as well.

Where i live, the 2 inch drop is perfect. It looks very low but at the same time i NEVER have had any problems getting out of my driveway(1/2inch clearence at its lowest point) I NEVER have had problems going up on a curb by accident. My doors NEVER hit the side curb when people are getting out. I dont have any problems with speed bumps, imho its the perfect drop in height for a daily.

I was really sleepy and pulled up alittle too much when getting breakfast.

as far as the bilsteins go, I BELIEVE they are 15mm lower (.5inch) than the standard shocks. Dont quote me on it though.

Im going to go wash my car and then post up a good side shot to show you guys the actual height. Alot of my pictures are deceiving and shot at an angle.

If it's just a daily then why bother with the aftermarket anyways???....doesnt add up to me.

ha touche i suppose. I just think that the look of the "aero kit" we already have on our cars looks freekin awesome so it's not worth the trouble of paint patching and fitting these replicas or even an authentic one....thats why i don't have one haha. Also ive heard of small rocks being able to crack the plastic on those replicas which would look awful if it did happen.

The replica im getting is Urethane so the worst that could happen is the paint get fucked up. Like i showed above, the fitment is actually pretty good too.

Oh and when BB responds back to my PM to link me to 25mm spacers that he showed me a while ago im going to pull the trigger on them tonight.

make sure that the center bore is 67.1....i saw someone else buy the wrong ones and then was having someone machine the spacers that they did get to 67.1.

New Pics

I still have yet to get pictures of my interior its on the to do list, however here are some new ones, The first one I just jumped out and took because I love how my red LED interior lights up the ground around, and the secound was was a little appearance change, nothing permanant, just plasti-dip to see if i wanted to go with some black rims, and I like how it turned out. Feedback welcome!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was gonna PD my rims too! damn you stole the thunder from me.

Can you take more pictures of the rims with the car, ya know what i mean? I want to see if its worth my 20 bucks to do my rims.

car looks great, as promised... i took side shots to show my low(2inch drop on sprint springs). One problem with springs is that once you get some low, you always want more low.

(sorry they are a little blurry)
