Yeah I think I might try this. Here's a link to a similar product. If you click-on the Mustang you can change the color of car and the color of film. Kinda cool, it even shoes what the film applied look likes with the headlights on or off.

This is the only one I've found so far. http://store.goldrushplating.com/20marx8goemp.html. Pricey though, Reg. $599.00 on sale for $275.00
Mine came as a dealer add-on. Some here on the forum have told me that you can take the emblems to anyone who does gold plating and they can do it also, maybe cheaper. Check some of the Lexus or Cadillac dealers. Some of them have people who do that especially to high-end cars as an add-on.

I was able to install gold emblems, and I processed it into the 'side vench' golden mesh type.
