so my brakes almost caught fire last night while i was just driving around town, and i saw sparks and immediately pulled over to inspect it, and it was smoking from the sliding pin, managed to limp it home and this is what i found this morning
guess the rubber was too old and started cracking and finally gave way and the grease dripped into the caliper and started to burn
this car sure does get alot of downtime for being a daily

so finally got time to put on the brake disks, and lines. My old centrics were wearing pretty thin and had a HUGE lip. These new giro-disks seems to be much more beefier and weigh less. The autoexe lines are stainless steel braided but they copy the OEM design and have a center mounting point on the upper arm.
and then my friend and I went to get our cars washed and took a few shots in downtown LA. My usual go to spot under Grand ave. This is my car as it sits right now.
I think LA roads may have destroyed my shocks, time for a rebuild. Also looking into getting delrin bushings for the front. I'm going to be needing new rubber soon, still thinking about these CCWs but not sure if i can justify new rims quite yet.

its the grand ave under pass, you can get to it from olive or hope from the Disney Concert Hall side, pretty common spot for guys to take pix of their cars actually.

Damn, so far this thread is like a very disappointing book. I just stumbled onto it the other day and have been eagerly reading through it as you progressed on your build. This page was actually the first one I pulled up this morning when I cam into work. And now, as I get to the last post I see that you're selling the car.... Where's the happy ending? I really like what you've done so far and I was hoping to see more where that came from - also the pics are really great! What was it exactly that made you decide to sell it? Was it the the endless funnel of money that is this car? Was it the desire to have something reliable and roomy. Or do did you simply feel that it was time for an "adult" car?
I guess the part of the reason I bring this up is because I often wonder myself what it would be like to own a car that doesn't require any further investment and is reliable.
Also how was that radiator working out for you? I'm in the process of installing the exact same cooling setup in my 8 as we speak.

haha sorry guys, i'm sorry to see the car go too. It was really turning into something that was amazing to drive. However i felt like if i kept on going with the car it would have turned into something much less streetable and way more dedicated which sounded really good in theory, but i guess in the end i wasn't quite prepared to go through with it.
Im going to drive the audi until the lease ends and move onto another car, so far im thinking some form of a porsche, theres a possibility of a FD also, we'll see what the future holds.
for now this is whats keeping me occupied
