Black hood decal on red
I just made, and installed, a black hood decal from vinyl. Just thought I'd show it off and see what you all thought about it.
Sorry the pictures are dark - I'll get better ones later.

I've seen a lot worse things on a car...probably looks pretty decent in person...be sure and post some of the better, up closer, and some pics from above please. Did you use sticky back or cling vinyl?
While your at it some closer pics of those body colored strakes.... pretty sharp looking...esp with the side kit.....but of course VR is the real bestest color anyhow

I think it looks pretty good. I need to see it outside in the daylight to really decide though. I just put it on and haven't taken it out for a spin yet.
I cut it from sticky-back vinyl. Once it's on - it's on.
Want to see the strakes? OK - here they are. They do add a nice touch to the look overall.
I'd like to get some full-length sides like Mazdaspeed or similar - and a different fron-end. That would be... very nice.

Yeah.. I'd say the jury is still out. It's not ugly by any means.. kinda subtle... it certainly makes it stand out from the other 8s running around.
I might look a bit more like it "belongs" if I had black wheels and some black eyelids. A little more black in a few other places to tie it all together - I think so anyway.
I am going for the all red and black look. Imagine this.. only as an RX8.

I like it. If you like stripes, maybe you could use it as the beginnings of a stripe, carry it over the top, and down over the trunk lid and rear bumper. I wonder how that'd look. I'm liking the look you have. I probably couldn't pull off that look on mine, though.

Know what - that's not a bad idea... I do wonder how that would look. I might just try that. But I'l likely stop the stripe on the top of the trunk lid instead of going down the back bumper.
If your car is green.. It might look good with either white or tan.. Maybe...

I have to disagree with the stripe idea. What you have right now is subtle, it looks okay, but if you go crazy with the mix (especially with vinyl stickers) it will start to look a little "2F2F" for me.

Ok - Back to the stripe idea - I know some of you think it would be ugly or ricy or too busy. You may be right but sometimes you need to see it.
So here's the idea drawn on. The stripe basically continues on over the top then to the top of the trunk where it stops. What do you think?
Keep in mind I will eventually be using this car for AutoCross so it won't hurt to stand out a little bit.
This might sound odd but - I kind of like it just because it's different.

I like it. It's something different than anyone elses. I'm all for being a little unique.
Maybe you could throw on a 1/4" pinstripe around the edges of it. Might complete the look, and ease the transition from red to black. Again, just a thought.

What would complete the look is a drawing of girl sitting sideways on the front of the hood, like you see on those big-rig truck mudflaps rofl j/k I actually kinda like that black stripe though.

Have you seen this car? I think the stripes look good on a race car, not sure about doing it on a daily driver though.
