little off topic... running around screaming i have a 10AE(2nd gen 'special edition') is pointless. we have nothing more than badges and a few off the shelf parts making thing differ same great car with another name. oh yes, and if your fussy, at the time my 10AE was the only one to have a black leather interior, like your piano black bits, and a color not offered to another model, like yours. heh give it a couple years.. they will make those things avalible to all models good on yah though, mines still worth more than the average TII. and yes i do like them.

whoa, stupid hornets nest.. where the hell did that come from! i do like them, any 8 for that matter. some day, if you guys keep caring about your cars, ill have a good used one to buy i just hope they supercharge, or turbo one. sad to me that they try and pass off the 4 door thing while the 350z stomps rx8's. i want the cars i like to at least *** whoop the other cars in its class.

As to the cost of the shinka, yes, it's alot more than the base but so is the GT, you have to compare the price to the GT package, then it isn't quite so expensive anymore. You need to compare option to option.
Anyway, not having to worry about ever sitting at the lights with the same car across or next to you is worth a bit of $$ and if you see a shinka in bright sunlight you'll understand what the fuss is about not to mention the improvement in the way the interior looks.
That's ok though, we'll give the rest of you some slack.

I don't really have anything against Shinka's, but I was looking for a more performance oriented special edition, something more similar to the R1 and R2 versions of the FD. Stiffer suspension, a little different mechanicals, none of luxo stuff. That would be cool.
Also when you are talking to your buddies about it, how do you keep a straight face when saying "Shinka"? :p If I had one the first thing I'd do is get rid of the Shinka badges.

If you really wanted performance I'm not really sure why you would get an 8 in the first place. You can get better performance for less or a lot more performance for not much more.

Umm...I wanted a brand new rotary powered car......I don't care how fast it is compared to other cars, but I always wanted the fastet, best performing(and affordable) rotary I could get.

I call mine "Shinka" also....it's actually easier to say....only 2 syllables...instead of 3....lol...it means "evolution" in Japanese.....there were many reasons why I chose the shinka.....I love the black cherry..you can not appreciate this color via pix...you've got to see it in person in the sunlight..I love the interior....its elegant.....it does have a stiffer and more stabilizing (for lack of a better word) suspension....I also opted for the 6MT because I like the control....I didnt buy it for speed.....although I enjoy what it gives me....and along with the GT package, I think it was a great buy for the money.....

Shinkas are cool looking, i like them a lot, most people on this board don't understand that a lot of people buy cars that the like, not cause of the power of the engine, anyways, what is all this obsession on horse power? is not like everyone wants to be racing a car all day. Also the 350z are ugly cars, they look like strechted out bugs and the interior has too much plastic..looks cheese inside.

looks like somebody forgot to tell these guys we got the whole 238hp Mazda promised aside from 14mm vs 12mm damper shafts, foam-filled front cross members, free Sirius satellite radio, piano black trim, parchment leather, semigloss instrument panel trims, custom leather components with color stitchings and pearl satin exterior light bezels.

Recovering from someone totalling my baby...
So I had a silver 2005 MT RX-8 with the GT package...then someone crashed into it while we were stoped at a light. I found out last Friday that it is done and over, to be driven no more, cant bend the frame back, sorry try again, come back when you cant stay as long. ...but im done crying, not done being thoroughly pissed, but done stewing about my old car, which incedentally I have the shifter and ground effects off of just for memories.
So to the point. Im thinking about getting a Shinka this time around since I like the leather interior and well Im in love with RX-8's... this may be a dumb question but any impressions/opinions on the interior/exterior combination. I like the black cherry and black and tan but i cant decide if I like it all together.
...and for fun, here are the dying images of my pride and joy. ok im stupid and cant get pics up here, maybe later
