Not sure what an WRX looking wing is doing on the back of that car, definitely the wrong wing/spoiler for it...

You mean the OEMs don't take power/weight ratio into consideration when designing a new platform and selecting a powerplant?

Having just test driven the 370z I'll weigh in.

The 370z does not impress me at all in coupe version. It's loud, tight and poor visibility. The power isn't that impressive and SyncroRev sucks (I tested it out a bunch).

That said, the 370z Roadster (Touring Edition) also test driven that day...did impress me..a lot.

Not the hottest roadster but the power was there (test drove the auto roadster) and the features were nice....air conditioned seats felt awesome. The wind noise was minimal even on the interstate and the visibility with the top down was awesome. The trunk space was impressive for a roadster imo. Highly recommend this for those who want a roadster.

The coupe...stick to your 8. The salesmen pissed me off when he went on and on about how the Z is a true import being 100% manufactured in Japan saying that basically my 8 was built by Ford....umm no thanks it's 100% built in Hiroshima jackass.

Your "review" of the 370Z sounds as convincing as a street ***** trying to convince her hustler and johns that she's a high-class escort virgin.

For a real review of car done by real professionals who live, eat, and breathe cars, I'd believe Car and Driver guys instead. And guess what, they praised the very same thing that you knocked. Here's a little excerpt of what they said:

Speaking of miraculous driving aids, here’s one we weren’t expecting. If you order the Sport package, the manual trans is fitted with the aforementioned SynchroRev Match, which blips the throttle during downshifts. We did some patent searches and believe this electronic boon to be a first on a wholly manual transmission. Upon hearing about it, we warned Nissan that our old-fashioned heel-and-toeing was pure Nureyev—no electronic wet nurses for us. We were wrong. Our own dance steps matched revs accurately about 80 percent of the time. Nissan’s electronic shoes matched revs 100 percent of the time. And you can’t fool the thing. A downshift from fifth to second that requires 4500 immediate revs? No problem. That tricky 10-mph downshift from second to first on a cold morning? Piece of cake. Enter a turn so fast that your whole focus is on braking and steering? Let Nissan manage the blipping. If you still think you can do better, you can deactivate it. But those creamy downshifts add so greatly to the car’s prescient interaction with the driver that we bet you won’t.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ression_page_2

Highs: Amazing rev-matching system, nimble, 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Lows: Slim view astern, noisy tires, a couple of awkward styling cues.

The Verdict: At this price, possibly the best sports car on the planet.

Again, C&D's verdict is way more credible than your own assessment. These are the same people that also praised the RX-8.

That Z looks like someone injected it's lips with its *** fat!

Your 8 is definitely sexier. And that guy has terrible taste.

Yeah sorry, if car and driver loved it I should obviously love it too. I'm such a dumb *** for actually test driving it for myself and disliking it...a lot. Silly me to have my own opinion. Next time I'll just buy the car that car and driver ranks #1.

Thanks for the tips.

To each his own. I would trade my 8 for a 370Z any day, any time. Now would I trade my no car payment 8 for a new 370 with a $500-$600 car payment? Nope.

I recommend to everyone to test drive the Z, it's a great car but it's really not that much above and beyond the 8. And I'll stick to my experience, syncrorev is nothing to brag about.

The power delivery is nice but I'm sure a nicely tuned Turbo'd 8 can easily outperform it on the drag strip and still be cheaper.

Again, still a fun test drive.

^ lol its actually a good thread its i still stick to my own opinion too ... i think the z is still too heavy especially at the nose and it is fast but not fast enough i would still take a fi 8 well tuned over the z anyday ... plus to me the 370 does look way better than the 350 but the 8 looks better than the z still!

Let's see...Your "review" of the 370Z contained nothing more than one line of unsubstantiated, if suspect, opinion.

The 370z does not impress me at all in coupe version. It's loud, tight and poor visibility. The power isn't that impressive and SyncroRev sucks (I tested it out a bunch).

And then you concluded with:

The coupe...stick to your 8.

So, you basically gave your worthless two cents and tried to convince other people that the 370Z is basically worthless.

I don't really have a problem with what you want to buy and drive. But stop trying to be a car expert. That's why C&D does what they do. And it's not like they have been in the biz just for the last 5-10 years. Try 1955. That's like fifty-five years ago. They must know what they hell they've been doing or they wouldn't be around until now. So like I said, their track and instrument-tested review of the 370Z is waaaay more credible than your worthless one-liner.

Go ahead and be a blind fanboi if you want. I also own and drive an RX-8, but I aspire to own and drive cars better than the 8. And I will.

ok..... imo and why i choose the 8 over the z when i was shopping

the 8 handles better, drives better, feels better, and was a 4 seater

I was attracted to the Z because of its looks, im not saying that it looks better than the 8 because i like things from both cars..... in my eyes, the looks dept are pretty much dead even

I liked the Z because of the power it has, when you stomp on it.... it goes and goes fast

but in the end, the handling and the extra seats made the 8 my pick

What are you trying to defend man?

He was just trying to give his opinion, which obviously is not more credible than C&D's but might be a bit more credible than most of the people here who have not driven the 370z yet.

He never claimed to be the most credible source...Or claimed to be a car guru...He was simply giving his honest opinion.

If you feel that the 370z is the greater car...Then good for you, no need to blow up at someone else for having a different opinion than you. Agree to disagree...

+1...it was more of a personal experience that he wanted to share rather than an "expert opinion"...so lay off man...damn

It was exactly that, my personal opinion which I why I urge everyone to go test drive one and have their own opinions as well.

Just because Car and Driver says SyncroRev is amazing doesn't mean that YOU will love it. I didn't.

As far as being a fanboi - guess again. Sure I love my 8 but I love cars and I own other cars I love as much as the 8.

I'm not hating on the Z - I would LOVE to own one, would I trade in my 8 for one....no but that's just me. Would I trade in my 8 for the Z roadster.....for the right price

The Z car is one of in-betweeners to me. Its always been a Japanese version of a Corvette. Thats not a bad thing, in fact they've done a lot of things rather well, its just not a Corvette.

So if I were to consider a Z, and I did look at the 350 very closely before buying the 8, I would sooner have bought a used C4 coupe with low mileage. Plenty to be found, and 2/3's the price of a new Z or 8.

I bought the 8 and 4 years later I'm still glad I did.

All this talk about the Z being heavy. 117 more HP and 110lb/ft of TQ more than makes up for the extra 200lbs the 380Z carries.

Imagine the R3 with 355HP and 270ft/lbTQ.

I do not like the looks of the Z.

That is the only feedback I need to say 8>z

No, x & y are not to be solved for in the equation
