thansk i think its safer the way you did it- just the thread title says brake light. and since it was lit but the High center ligth was not there was some confusion.

good job guys

can you give extra details on how you removed the rotary accent? also, what did you use for the 194 bulb adapter? I would imagine that is something available at a local auto parts store? Also, the adhesive you used, was it fairly simple to clean it up? Thanks. Again, that mod looks incredible.

We use an heat gun to heat up the glue, which made so easy. We use glue instead of the sticky tape to ensure it didn't come off when got first got our Rotary Emblems, so we need to heat up the glue and POP it came off without damaging the edges of the bumper.

The haness we use was an 194 replacement kit you can get @ Kragen or Autozone, it cost like $1.99.

We use black silcone adhesive which can also be purchase from Kragen or autozne. Once you put it in, the material goes everyway, but once you clean it up any shop towel it's easy to play with, the stuff will harder in 24 hrs. And if you don't like the way it's look, take it out rewipe everything down, and start all over, you have plenty of play with the material.

Good luck.

Technically this mod is not hard to do. Look at the wiring DIY on the link I posted earlier in this thread. Decide what to use for your "RED" material and what light source you are going to use.

The wiring and install time on this mod are VERY short. 20 - 30 minutes tops, the part of this that takes time is all the cutting needed to make a 6 - 8.00 constant curved red tail signal fit into a variable curved small space. and if you make one mistake... back to the store for another lens...

I think it took us 45 - 85 minutes to cut / refit / recut/ refit / clean up / refit / recut / etc. on the first lens and then we used that as a template for the other one we made.

This mod is not difficult, but it is a labor of love. I am sure that there are other materials that could be used for the lens that are as cheap and easy to come by, I was just unable to find any, and the trailerlights worked.

if i paypal you some cash would you mind picking up the trailer light and using your template to cut me one? I can do the wiring and siliconing and such myself, but do not have the tools to cut it. Or I could even go pick up the taillight myself and just ship it to you with a few bucks included in the box to ship it back.

would REALLY appreciate it!

glad I came across this before sticking on my accent.. its at home waiting for install, just hasnt been done yet!

Well hit up Modestorx8 for this request. Becuase I don't have an paypal account. I myself really wouldn't have anytime to time to cut one. I would ask ModestoRx8.

If you still want to wait further, maybe I can cut one out later on......? thanks

Easiest way to do it is to purchase the lens from RX8strakes.com and then do the wiring to make it work.

Their lenses are only like 28.00 bucks or something. By the time you ship it, I ship it back and I buy it and cut it, it will be more expensive than just getting theirs.

Cutting these is a pain.

These look good. I have the old derwankel housing, but I modified it a bit to take a larger LED bulb (921), and I have it hooked up as a 4th brake light.

Tail Lights

Hey these are cool! Just one question: What did you use to hold the bulb and contain it? Obviously we have to protect it from rain, rats, and unicorn damage?
