Finally some progress is being made

I found some time today to prep and paint the side skirts. Pics:

I was sanding the side skirts with some 320 grit and noticed a bump by the opening on one of them...I started sanding it and a piece fell off. Tsunami bondo'd the piece back on...which was the wrong way to do it obviously.

So I sanded the area with some 180 grit, and used a special epoxy, made for all types of plastic bumpers and such, and filled the missing spot.

Here it is sanded with 80 grit...this stuff is like a rock

Next I put a skim coat of bondo on top to fill in any imperfections and sanded it

Primed repair--looks like new!

Painted base coat

Glassed it with clear

Here is the spot that was repaired--can't even tell!

Hopefully next week I can get them installed. I still need to install the mesh on the openings. We've been getting a lot of snow, so the 8 has been stuck in the garage for a while.

Man I love your car! I didnt like the sideskirts till I seen them off the car, the pictures of the sides looked dull to me.

But I am a fan now. Wish I wold have ordered them with the bumper!

Thanks!

I was so back and forth on getting the skirts, but I like them a lot now, I'm glad I got these.

As soon as I can get the car out of the garage! Stupid snow. I would install them in my garage if only it was heated. -2 degress F was the high today....-40 degrees F with the windchill

Hey Jonathan sorry to see that you should have emailed me I would have got another one right out to you, I never noticed anything like that when I was packing them. Did it look like there was bondo on the side skirt what color was it because like I said I checked them when I was packing them and they looked fine maybe the urethane was thin in that area. Those came right out of the box from the place that does the injecting for me and into another box to you if there is a problem I need to talk to them about it. Once again I'm sorry you had to do that extra work. I stand behind my product so if anything like that happens to anyone who purchased something from me please let me know and I will make sure you get a replacement. It looks great though you do some great bodywork

It wasn't a big deal, I didn't notice it either until I started sanding on it. It was a small piece of urethane "glued" with bondo. The bondo was blue. I know my bondo when I see it. This type of thing is easy for me to do anyways, since I've got plenty of practice.
