Cool 05rex8's transformation--Tsunami front bumper

I was finally able to get my tsunami bumper after months and months of tracking it down. Fortunately they are back in business. I did the body work, prep/painting. Here are some pictures of the transformation. I will add more pix as I continue.
**********UPDATE: see post #49 for more pictures***********

Fitment is decent

The FMIC looks right at home

My engine bay for fun

Had to fill in some very minor imperfections

Base coat applied

Clear coat applied....looks just like glass!

Stay tuned for more pix of the final installation. I will be working on some side skirts and rear bumper skirts in the meantime.

Not familiar with this kit but it looks pretty decent.

That FMIC does look right at home... planning on mesh or leaving it open?

9.5...it's a little tight around the headlights, but not a big deal...just gotta use a little force

It's not really a replica....as far as I know, tsunami developed this design and nobody has copied it

Hey 05rex8 looks good need some pictures on the car painted. How was the fitment pretty easy to put on ? What kind of imperfections were there on the bumper were they small pinholes.

Hey Ross_Dawg this bumper is not a replica of anything it is an original TSUNAMI Designed bumper and it is one of the only polyurethane bumpers available on the market for an RX8. There are duraflex bumpers out there but that is a fiberglass bumper with a flexiable resin coating on it but it is still fiberglass and can crack. This bumper is 100% polyurethane like your stock bumper.

Ah sorry, my bad. I thought I read somewhere that this kit was similar to an expensive japanese bumper.

Hey Rex,

It's really nice looking...
Just 1 question:
How's the ground clearance for the tsunami vs. the stock/ur older front bumper?

Once again, it looks great
Thanks.

Damn Ithink cars should be painted without a top gloss coat, Satin finishes look so badass. I ve been thinking of respraying my car with a flat top coat, for a long time now ....

Was easy to put on after getting the holes drilled properly, the pre-marked spots were a little off, not bad at all. The imperfections were some air pockets that had a thin layer of urethane over them. About 2- 3 inches long. Very easy fix. I did notice many pinholes, but nothing a good sealer or primer can't fix.

Thanks, the clearance appears the same as stock with appearance package. I did not measure, but that's what it looked like to me. I am happy with that, because I am lowered 2 inches.

Yup, I actually have the INGS kit, however I am not using the front, just the sides and rear skirts. I like the looks of the INGS front, but wanted a urethane bumper and the tsunami is the best looking aftermarket IMO. Not too aggressive, but definitely not stock.

LOL, I got the INGS front bumper I am not going to use I can sell you for a good deal. It's the same as in that pic Alfy posted.
