The mic on her shirt was interfering with the seatbelt and it looks 'bad' on camera I guess.

[QUOTE=amo;3588578]The Mazda did get annoying in the first review, did anybody notice the guy from Top Gear (name escapes me right now) said it the same way. He only said it twice so most people might not of picked up on it.
QUOTE]

NO the USA has it WRONG...the rest of the WORLD say MAZ-DA not Marz-da....even the Japanese say Maz-da.

BTW, the "Guy" from Top Gear..is an Englishman, I guess they are wrong in English too.

The guy from Top Gear, I assume you're talking about Jeremy Clarkson? The legend himself..!

Top Gear was once reviewing the Audi TT (which I find boring and cold) The Alfa Romeo Berrea (which I find ridiculously gorgeous) and the RX-8. After a few days of testing all three cars he claimed that the perfect 2-door sports car looks like the Alfa, has the built quality of the Audi and DRIVES like the Mazda.

I always felt that quote sums up the rx-8 perfectly. It is a true driver’s cars

Marz-da! Excuse me, but there is no 'R' in our pronunciation of MAZDA. That would make our pronunciation begin the same way we say MARS, as in the red planet. Who on earth pronounces it like that? Certainly not us Yanks.

We pronounce it correctly, with "Maz" rhyming with hot, box, cot or lot – not hat, cat or sat.

There is nothing wrong with the video when she pronounces the word "Mazda". Your analogy is somewhat flawed. That is like saying 'americans' pronounce: has, jazz, mass, as, bass (fish), bash, cast, dash, etc, the same way as "hot, box, cot or lot", which we definitely agree is incorrect.

^ Ah, I think I see your point. We definitely do NOT put an 'r' in Mazda, but I think what you find odd is the inconsistency of the 'a' vowel here.

If we were to pronounce 'Mazda' the way we pronounce 'Mazeroski', we would pronounce it the same way you do. But we actually pronounce it 'Moz-duh'. Don't blame us… we were taught to pronounce it that way by the company itself…

Brits and Australians pronounce "r" differently then Americans.
(I'm more familiar with British, so I'm using that as my example. I think it's similar enough to Australian in this case)
"Mars" with a British accent sounds like how Americans pronounce the "maz" in "Mazda". So when we say "Mazda", it sounds like "Mars-duh"

(Like the Ford "Ka" and "Kouga" sound the same as "car" and "cougar" in Britain, but sound like made-up words to most yankees.)

What's weird is the video is Canadian, and they talk very similar to Americans, yet they pronounce Mazda differently ...and "aboot".

I mean Canadians. I guess that's stereotyping. I worked with a guy from Canada once. I don't remember if he said "aboot", but he did say "ay" (or "eh" or however you spell it.)

Canadian girls are so hot. I really need to get my passport and drive up to Toronto and Montreal. I mean, Toronto is only 10 hours from me. Ive driven farther to North Carolina. Hell, even Florida.

BTW, ive never seen an Rx8 commercial. Is that real?

That commercial is real. It's the very first one. It aired during the Super Bowl of 2003.
