Well it's out at last, the first proper UK comparo.
Nice pics and RX8 rates well apart from that old TORQUE issue!!
There was also a "first steer" article in the same magazine.

Okay, okay, you’ve successfully wetted my appetite; I’ll pick one up on the way to work tomorrow.
(Need all that overtime to pay for the leather upgrade)
if TG have gone to the trouble of organising a descent group test it would be a shame not to send some of my hard earned cash their way. The pictures look good enough to want to see at full scale, although as mentioned on the euro forum, it’s odd that the 350 is treated so much more favourably than the Clarkson review.
Never mind only another week until I get to see the real thing at the Edinburgh showing (still fingers crossed that they’re not still touting that blue pre-pro model that you guys have photographed to death)

Aha, so that's the photoshoot that was reported here last month:

Thanks for the scans, oilman. We normally get the British mags a month or two late.

Hmm, the 8 was rated no 2 in the 0-62 at 6.4, the Z is 5.9 while the tt was 6.9 and the Crossfire 7.2 . I was expecting the Z to be faster then 5.9 and the RX8's 6.4 is pretty respectable (specially if it's a production car with only 180 whp :p

The article states the 0-60 runs were done using a rolling start, we know the RX-8 doesn't perform too well in this sort of race to 60 as it fairs better with a good clutch drop. (They were worried about breaking drive train components in the middle of nowhere )

It was done with a car that they said was just off the boat, so I guess it was an American production model, although I doubt it had much mileage on it.
The 6.4 mentioned above is from the statsistics table and is Mazda's quoted 0-60 time for the European Hi-Power car (228 bhp), not the time they got for the rolling start race.
