Well, the game is out. In the game, you can add about 20hp on our RX-8 with a JIC exhaust, and another 20 hp with UR pulleys. Apparently you can also replace the cam gears with AEM ones?
With the stock RX-8, you can also upgrade to the VeilSide Version 1 bodykit, and the CWest body kit for the RX-7. The game includes the Spirit R RX-7 and Bathurst as well. The Mazdaspeed RX-8 is the JDM one rated at 250 hp, the one discerpancy there being that the car has US-spec sidemarkers.
There are four or five different versions of the Mitsubishi Eclipse you can buy; there are ZERO Hondas in the game.
Anyway, it's a pretty fun game -- it plays a bit like NFS. There is a dyno in the game, and some real parts. The control is a little suspect, and I can't control my RX-7 though -- even you hit a curb you are liable to flip over. You can upgrade the suspension but you can't tune it.
Worth $50 for now.

I wonder if the console version makes a difference? (Xbox vs PS2 vs GC)
This review stated the exact opposite, that the car's handling and game physics are great. But it's a review of the xbox version. http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/777...g-Syndicate/p1
"Overall Gameplay Impressions:
Can you say great physics and handling? I knew you could. SRS will be a shock to those that thought this was just another flashy street racing game with more underbody neon options than there are JDM cars in the game. Even though SRS lets you play rice boy with a selection of kits, stickers, and wheels, it’s really setting its sights higher (read: Forza) when it comes to a realistic driving experience."
"Gameplay: 9.1 - Absolutely sick physics and handling system including the ability to use an analog clutch for drifting. Best realistic drifting experience this side of the JDM D-1 game for cell phones."

I run an ebgames. I tried srs today and wasnt impressed. the game feels really slow. the controls arent great and the graphics are pretty low res. they should have spent less time on the girl hording aspect and more time on the gameplay. if any of u pick up the game u can unlock a suped up rx8 in arcade mode by pressing up down left right on the dpad and then entering RENESIS as your name.

Can't wait to try the game out. I've seen screen captures of the game and some of them included import models like Flo Jalin. Are there import models in the game? On another note, I think in Underground 2 we might be able to add lambo doors(let the flaming begin).

hmm cam gears????
The driving physics in the game are kind of cool; the AWD cars -- the EVO and the GT-Rs -- are easy to drive. But the RX-7 tends to super oversteer, and my 940hp Supra can be tough to handle. What's cool is that when you take damage, it shows up - you get scrapes on the sides when you scratch a wall, and when your trunk gets busted the aerodynamics are affected.
But when you crash (you always crash), you have to pay to repair damage, and the price is probably too steep.
The graphics are great, aside from the big muffler tips on every car.

Both my son and I love this game. The cars handle great (at least on our Xbox). But they do handle like cars with 500+ hp, which means they can snap into a spin easily if you put too much power down. I think the creaters tried to make the handling more realistic compared to NFSU. NFSU is great fun, but the cars handle too well, almost like they're magnetized to the road. My boy actually prefers SRS to NFSU, me too, if only because it has the RX-8 in it (both the stock RX-8 and the Mazdaspeed).

[QUOTE=RX-Hachi]I just got the game, and this code is not working for me. At which screen do you enter "up down left right"? And is "RENESIS" in all caps?
You enter the code at the main screen of the game. After you have created your own profile. Use the digital pad not the analog stick. Press Up,Down,Left,Right. It should instantly goto another name entry screen. Enter RENESIS and that's it. It's a turbo charged 317 hp RX-8 only available in arcade mode. It's blue and white with a pic of some anime style girl on the doors. Also if you guys goto your local EBGames they should have a pack of SRS trading cards they can give you...theres a card for the 8 as well as some of the girls. Later guys... have fun ...I'm havin a Halo system link tonight I gotsta get goin.

I got my RX8 in the game tuned up to 610hp with all the addon parts. The control takes some time getting used to , it is different than all other racing games. But once you learn how the car handles you get used to the controls, I got mine down pretty good now.

The powered-up RX-8 is a bit easier to control than the RX-7, probably because the RX-8 is a little heavier and close to neutral to slight understeer. I just got the Spirit R RX-7 and it handles fine at 280hp to 450 hp, but any more and it is uncontrollable.
And then there's the damage issue. If you're trying to make money, it's more economical to do it with the MS RX-8 than the Skyline, because $1000 in RX-8 damage will cost $6000 on the Skyline to fix for whatever reason.

The handling of the cars is actually a very interesting part of this game. Anyone who gets the game and goes for a FR car like the arcade mode RX-7, or just slaps on any old part to get the most speed, will think the handling sucks. The arcade mode RX-7 is a true beast to control. But tuning each car to get right balance of hp, torque, suspension and tires makes a huge difference.
I've found that different tires and suspensions will work differently on each car. Although you can power up the RX-8 to close to 700hp, I kept my Mazdaspeed RX-8 to around 480 hp to keep the handling balance. Although it's not as fast as the GT-R, I have the handling setup in a way that I truly feel it's one of the best handling cars in my garage. My RX-8 can out handle and beat my son's tuned GT-R. (And my son is actually a slightly better video game driver than I am.)
The throttle and brakes are analog, and sometimes you need to just tap the brakes or feather the throttle to get some turns just right. There is actually quite a bit of depth to this game.

Mostly the auto and semi-auto, saving the manual for later.
Also, if you win the Miami circuit in Arcade mode, a tuned Mazdaspeed RX-8 is added to your garage in Street mode as a bonus. The Mazdaspeed RX-8 handles much better than the stock RX-8 in the game, and way way better than the RX-7. The RX-7 and Trueno seemed to be setup for drifting, but they snap into spins so easily.

........better than an RX-7 huh??
........i think i'll rent this before i think about buying it. also, what is the advantage of going to a manual transmission if there's the semi-auto (other than for drifting, where i know for some techniques you wanna punch the clutch and stuff)??
