I like some aspects of that concept, but overall it just looks disproportionate, it looks to me like a honda crx on 20's, on the side view the wheel arches seems to be 2/3 of the car , I just don't like the overall effect.

I'd buy this car in a heart beat. It looks like my car, with none of the parts I don't like (rear seats and too large a chassis).
I'm imagining the next RX car "should" compete with the new Nissan 370Z... after all the 370Z is the new benchmark for Mazda
This concept drawing has more of what I love about Mazda and the Rotary engines... with less of that "Overly-Weird-Flowing" design and more of the design from the Mazda Furai! which is a car that I'm sure all of us wish we could drive!!

I cant beleive so many are dissing this car. I mean, for a new rx It is not up to par but for another entry level sport coupe I think it looks great. Im telling you if this car makes it to Mazda's line-up it will be an MX-3.

its hard to speculate about the next generation rx. most car companies are trying to get more efficiency out of their powerplants, which lets be honest is NOT a rotaries strong suit. a buyer of the car may not care, but 2010 fuel economy mandates and such will have a huge effect on what the next rx to be. From the Kabura concept, as well as any possible renderings, dont expect it to be anything like what the 8 is. A family sports car. No four doors, bigger power, stiffer suspension. the next rx is going to be what the 8 should have been, what the previous generations were. inexpensive performers. It seems from layouts, that Mazda is going for the coupe with possible rear seats, but I wouldnt expect anything in the way of doors (which I would be happy to see go. It's unique, but unfunctional in tight spots, and once the novelty wears off, not all that cool). With the improvements in turbos since the 20b, and rew, a turbo version will be both possible and more likely an another displacement increase over the 1.6 that people have been talking about. Rotaries biggest strength is that they dont have valves to bend with turbos. A strong apex seal, and a modern turbo is reasonable, and possible. If they can get a decent price for it, thats the future.
