As mentioned by someone on this forum, Best Motoring races the 8 with a bunch of other cars with comparable torque-weight ratios (lineup incl. integra type-R, WRX, s2000, skyline coupe) and it comes in second last, only beating the miata.
The Top Gear times for the 8 are on par with the M3 and 'Zed'
I believe this is probably cos Top Gear races them seperately, so the driver is able to pick the best line to conserve the 8's forward momentum.... without having to jockey with other cars for position. (Hence, the drifting... which JClarkson didn't like at first. But he did mention that their driver, 'Stig', assured him that this was the best way to get a good time outta the 8 )
However, in the Bestmotoring vid, whenever the 8 gets boxed in or forced to brake in the corners, it loses out on the acceleration battle that follows as they enter the straight. Judging by the over-the-shoulder and foot pedal cams, i don't think the 8 driver was doing much wrong.
Ah well, at least the 8 was still the best looking one on the track. :p
Oddly, though, rx-8 'A-spec' beats the s2000 in another BM vid. Anyone know whatz da diff wit 'A-spec'?

......aaaaaaand, it should be 'Zed'
but hey... you guys got the nukes, so, um, 'zee' is fine by me.
it's prob 'zee' in Japan cos it's closer phonetically to what they already have in Japanese...

I have both videos on my computer. The RX-8 revenge vid is basically a regular RX-8 that we get here in the states with the 6 MT. This particular one had a few suspension tweaks though. The red one that got beat, from what I understand is a 5 speed that is offered in Japan and Europe that comes mated to a 197 HP (the one the automatic gets) engine.

These are the full episodes so the files are huge.
The RX-8 did put up the exact same time as an M3 and 350Z around the Top Gear track.
