RX-8 Sales okay but Mazda did very well in January

The Mazda3 did extremely well as did the Mazda6. I figure the 6 to do much better with the hatch and five-door coming out.

Yup. I saw the figures earlier today. It's interesting that the 8 did lose a lot of ground in Jan. vs. the 350Z. In December 03, they were almost neck and neck: an impressive 2079 RX-8s vs. 2124 350Zs. For January 04, it was 1789 RX-8s vs. 2431 350Zs.

As a refresher, December 03 numbers:

I dont really consider the 6 as having a good month, with sales down over 50 percent from the previous month.

When compared to the abysmal number of 6's sold last January and most of last year for that matter I think it still did excellent. I mean come on it was January. That has to be one of the worst month for car sales.

Last January it was an all-new car only in its 2nd full month of availibility, and it was also a record winter. And Jan. or not, other sedans like the Altima and Camry sold more last month than they did last year.

I wouldnt be surprised if sales go down even more, now that certain dumb asses from several 6 boards have effectively made the rust issue public when it wasn't even newsworthy.

Yea, I am surprised on the RX8 drop compared to teh Z too. Especially when all of the media right now is shouting the 8's noteworthy advantages.

No kidding, especially since the Z has been out for over a year and a half. Are you guys sure those numbers are right? I've been progressively seeing more and more 8's on the road. They look great, although I'd love to see the titanium gray in person.
