RX-8 to be in NFS: Underground 2
In the latest issue of Playstation Magazine a multiple page article was written on the sequel to the EA games smash hit Need for Speed: Underground, which held second place on the charts all year long, only to be beaten by Madden. NFS: Underground 2 among many new cars and advances will feature the RX-8. In the sequel you will be able to explore the underground scene and find your own races, rather than being handed them. You can now chose which events you wish to do, such as drifting and drag racing. You can keep multiple cars now instead of just one. You also have to go around and find tuner shops and garages, each will have different parts and get new inventory all the time.
The RX-8 is featured on the cover and featured in the ad for the game, man I wish that body kit was real and not just digital.

And yes, it will be nice to see the RX-8 this time around.

I didn't really like how the first one was so FAKE!!!
I was looking into the game "Juiced," yet not much info has been given from that, also GT4 probably won't feature exterior mods(such as custom paints, bodykits, etc.)...maybe this NFS will fix several things, like when you crash a car head first, going 193 mph, you do 45 flips with a 1800 degree spin, you land perfectly, same direction, and start off going 150 mph...wow...that game was NOT for me...and the tuning parts(more like kits) made no sense...there was absolutely no diffrence from the parts(1, 2, or 3...)....also the lack of car choices was dreadful...I mean...come on, all racing games should have a MINIMUM of 50 cars; hey, I'd say 75 even...you can fit so much into those little disks it's not even funny...

NFSU was great for what it was: an arcade type racing game with killer graphics (if you have a card that supports Direct X 9) on the PC, if you played it on PS2 XBox or Gamecube, or on any pre nVidia FX or Radeon 9600 or so card, you missed so much. I played it with the force feedback wheel & it was much fun.
If you want real on a PC, codemasters just came out with a new one, seems to rival Gran Turismo in physics.

I will try to load pics from the article, OdDbaLL0789 your right this time around you can tune each individual part like the gear ratios, shocks, etc. And the body kits actual give you an aerodynamic advantage so it's not just about looks. I checked EA Games site but no pics so I will scan the ones from the magazine.

Yeah, the 8 is in GT whatever number it was on PS2. However, I played the NFSU on my PC and I have a high end card, processor and memory so it looked marvelous. This is the last car I used to beat the game with for the 6th time and after the first two, I always played on the hardest setting. This is my RX-7 from the game that I named Snakebite. Online, I lost very few races when I had time to play online.

I'm really looking forward to NFSU 2. It seems as though EA is fixing everything that was wrong or just lame in the first one and making in much better in their second installment. Finally they are not going to have predetermined tracks! Am I wrong or is the release date set for Q4 2004?

That's what I heard. end of this year. I hope they have replay so I can see how close I actually won by. That to me would be one of the best features above all.

I also hope they fix the computer controlled drivers. They always seemed to catch up right when I screwed up, like on the last lap of a six lap race I crash once and they pass me, causing me to losr the race and violently throw my PS2 out the window! Ok not really but it makes you feel that way.

looks like a promising game, but there are lots of racing games in the same style coming out. Juiced was mentioned, and SRS(Street Racing Syndicate) and a few more that i can't remember the names of right now. for those of you who aren't totally into videogames as me, being a 17 year old guy, E3 is this wed till friday i think, and basically all the videogames worth seeing and many more will be showed there. hit up sites like www.gamespot.com for info and whatnot. anyways, i'm pumped that the 8 will be in the new nfsu, i'm hoping that they offer rebates to those who bought the 1st one cuz i don't feel like spending another 40 on, more or less, an expansion. aight, i've said a lot....

I've been following Gran Turismo 4, and unfotunately it looks like it is going to be another Gran Turismo 3. If more cars is the only major difference, it doesn't justify the price of a new game.
NFSU looked pretty good, but I think I'll wait for the sequel in this case.

this time i wont make the idiotic mistake of getting nfsu on the ps2 instead of my pc! I regret that decision now that i dl'ed the demo again... the graphics were so much better! And it ran so smooth even with all the options on except for the headlights and at 1000x900(couldnt remember the exact resolution). WHHYY. I guess i either gotta wait till the original cost 19.99 or till the second one comes out, whichever comes first lol.

RX-8 Games
Video Games that I've played with the RX-8:
Gran Turismo 3 - Early prototype version of the RX-8, very fast and great handling when modded in the game.
AutoModelista - Funky cartoon style game with a focus on drifting, but kind of squirely driving dynamics.
Project Gotham Racing 2 - Nicely rendered RX-8, great driving dynamics. (I think PGR 1 had a prototype 8 in it too.)
Sega GT On-line - Another nicely done RX-8, but the game isn't very different from Sega GT 2002.
Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 - (Nobody has mentioned this one yet). I love this game! You can add both the Mazdaspeed body kit and/or the Mazda factory front, side, and rear spoiler options to mod your stock 8.
Gran Turismo 4 "Prologue" - The best presentation of the RX-8 yet. While the game seems to play like GT3 with the controller, the driving simulation is much improved with the steering wheel over GT3. (This game is only out in Japan, but I have a Japanese playstation 2)
Initial D Arcade Stage ver. 3 - A very fun Arcade game for you Initial D Anime fans. The RX-8 was added to the latest version of the Arcade game. Tried the SE3P a few times on Mt. Akagi. (I have the PS2 version of this game too "Initial D Special Stage", but alas it's based v2 of the Arcade, so no RX-8.)
