Have you seen what some people say as they leave the movie? Some people think that stuff is real...that's why I don't like it. But that's not the topic...so I'll shut up about it now.
Reply: I like movies and books to be more balanced - If you are going to talk about a group of people, you ought to consider how other people will treat them, when the movie is over.

If there was a movie showing RX-8s rolling over, being passed by aging Chryslers, and RX-8s owners only having three Billy Bob teeth, using their cars as Porta-Potties and wiping them down with the grease from Kentucky Fried Chicken, It might be funny, but it would not make the cars worth more, or make their owners feel more comfortable.

When it comes to religion the feeling is as deep, or deeper, it's kinda like doing disrespect to your family. One of the coolest things that ever happened in a War happened because a group of Marines showed respect for someone else's religion. The Marines had been ordered into an Iraqi village to help rescue a Mullah. A crowd thought that the Marines had come to hurt him and to dishonor a mosque. The Marines were surrounded by an angry, frightened mob. The Marine's leader ordered them to face the mosque, and drop to one knee, in a sign of respect. When the mob saw they had respect for their religion, they showed respect back, and calmed down, so our boys could do their job. The faith and obedience that those marines showed their officer, and the respect they had for another person's religion reflected honor on themselves and our country.

Tom Hanks does get in some lines suggesting that he is a believer, albet a weak one. I heard he asked to make sure those lines were there.

It's a fictional story about a fictional story, therefore it is hard to see why anyone would get all riled up about it.

The Mazda Emblem indeed shows that Da Vinci left the sign "M" to denote Jesus is married.

how can religion NOT be real? there are many of them around the world. thats a fact.

yea, i know what you meant. just thought i'd point out that religion, and what religions teach as truth are 2 different things.

i have no desire to see this film. i've heard only mediocre reviews on the book.

Dan Brown comes up with good plots. Personally I think his whole "THIS STUFF IS TRUE!" persona is just to get better book sales. I don't think he can believe any of it is actually true. There's a lot of half truths in it and history tweaking that he uses to make stuff fit his story.

But Dan Brown as writer:
Plot: great
Structure, layout, flow of plot: good
Actual writing ability: terrible
Character depth: paper thin.

I've read DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons and in both books there were times where I just went "whoa I could write better than this." I let my brother read Angels and Demons and I warned him about that and he agreed with me.

Ive never read Angels and Demons, but why do you think the Da Vinci Code wasnt written well? And come on, character depth = paper thin, half the book was portraying character background. Thats why I feel the movie didnt turn out very well, they didnt get into enough details about the characters pasts.

Hmmmm... I don't have the book with me at work. So I'll go through some of the book to find parts that are just really amateurly written when I get home. Remember back in grade school when you're told to "show" not "tell"? Often when reading Dan Brown he'll do a lot of "telling" and I dunno, that just jumps out at me.

BOT: I'm glad I didn't see the 8 because mygirlfriend would have never heard then end of it. I was watching something and there was an RX-8 and i went on about it for a good half hour. It was hilarious.

Great—yet another way for people to not find out about the car.

Good point Cap'n M. Religion itself IS real. Its the teachings that are all made up. To each their own I believe. Not knocking anyone for being a believer.

I know this is a bootleg, but hey, sue me. Anyway, is this the shot with the 8? I only have a CAM so the quality is horrible. I watched the scene over and over and this is the only time its a wide enough shot to see anything else then the 2 heros.
