This was just release on Motor Trends website.

Works for me...
It looks like a two door R3 RX-8... I'll probably buy one in the second model year in the US. The first model year is always plagued with problems and has no aftermarket support, the second model year is generally a sweet spot with early adopters offering support and working out the initial bugs. I really hope they have a turbocharged option for the car though... I don't feel like waiting the 5+ years its taken for the RX-8 for a reliable FI solution. Even a low boost turbo option would do wonders for the car's popularity among the tuning crowd.
Cool... except I wish they would tone down the "grin" look a tad.
If it's a 2-seater and has the 16X I'm in. ;)
It look like happy pokemon. RX7 happy happy.
Me likey. |
It looks okay to me, except they could tone down the humongus grin. I wonder what the interior or rear end might look like.
looks good if it has the 16x count me in
The Tokyo show is in October, so I think this is another case of "It's in a Japanese mag so it's gotta be true".
As much as I liked the Nagare stuff, it's time for an actual preview of a production car, not something they want to do in 20 years. |
The front just looks like a photoshopped R3 RX8.
Just another photochop. There is a lot of different "sources" generating photochops though which makes me wonder if there could be some truth to another rotary car being released in a couple of years. Is this just a bunch of false hope or is there some truth to these rumors and these "sources" are getting some inside info?
I'm saving up for a new car anyway, maybe this will be it. I'm not getting my hopes up though...

Only says they are 55% confirmed for its showing, so I doubt this is gonna be seen till maybe late 2010?
And another one of these articles.

If I could count how many articles said the 7 will be released on this year and here is a concept of it..." I'd run out of appendages. |
if they do procede with its production. will the continue the 8 making the 7 the two door performance with plenty of track time car and the 8 the 2+2 family friendly weekend track car.
I will take one
Looks sharp even if its a photochop. Wonder if Mazda will go back to 2 seats only.
I'll wait till after production before I get excited.

oh man, now all i see in it is the giant salamander!!!!
If they build it they will have to a have a direct injected engine just meet emissions standards. Hopefully its the 16X, but I hope it doesn't bring the car into the 40K price range. I'll also be waiting to buy a used '13 ;)
Not to take away from the 8, but anyone notice the blue toyota supra looking car below the the lexus supercar?
That could be intresting. If that comes back Mazda will have to bring an FI to the party to retain it's share of the performance market. |
I don't get how people can actually fall for these BS articles and renders. Last year I had friends telling me a new RX7 was coming out blah blah blah after they saw an autoblog article containing pictures from a similar japanese magazine.
lol ur so right and i actually said id get one lol i wish they did i would def get one.
Like almost all concepts, the real car will either not look like that, or not be created at all.
That said, the car looks cool and all in a showroom, I would look stupid driving it, and people would accuse me of having a tiny member. |
it should be supercharged not turbo , the first supercharged rotary!(STOCK)
I like it
Hope I have money then... |

Why is it that people still think that it's going to be called an RX-7? I mean i can't imagine that they would actually go back one number, that kinda defeats the purpose of their 40 years of naming lol. I think RX-9 actually sounds good. Maybe we'll get the RX-X eventually
A lightweight two seater with better handling and power than the 8. If they don't deliver that it's time for me to move on.

Wow they did a good job with the render i actually thought it was a real picture. I also thought it was real for a bit because I thought it was a guys head partially above the white car in the background. But now I see if you focus on the lower grille of the car you can see that the paint just isn't quite right. All and all and interesting rendering hopefully will lead to something starting with R and ending in 7.
I personally feel they should use what people are calling the rx-9 as there new design. It actually has a mazda feel to it. or at least a production feeling style to it. These are renders though based on a concept =/.

I have always liked this concept. Mazda insiders in JP are still sticking to the 2012 release timeline. New RX-7 or RX-9, whatever it's goona be called...Mazda is showing in there 2015 projections that there will be atleast 2 rotary based vehicles in their line up.

i'll love this one
^ basically the same look as rx8.
Mazda is calling whatever they are working on the "New" RX-7. It's just the working title like in new movies...I'm sure in the spring of 2012, when advertising is expected to ramp up, it will be called something completely different.

That looks like a cross between the current RX-8 and the last iteration of the RX-7, which is a good thing. I'd buy it, provided it has the 16X.
