Easy_E1, well my call from my contact in Irvine told me they would not be back untill Spring but information from our contact in Las Vegas says you are correct that they will be here in 3-4 weeks. Will it be spring in 3-4 weeks??? Oh well. I'll let you know if I pick up any more information. No one said to keep this too quiet just don't mention names so who knows what they are sending.

I think the best way for mazda to test the 16x its to drop it at the back of a ALMS race car, maybe as a 3 rotor, but they will test most of its internal components at extreme use

 

Actually, there are (10) 2009 test cars in NA, 2 in Canada and 8 in various parts of the USA. One is at a dealer in SOCAL as we speak. It will move to AZ, then Vegas. No 16X however, it's just the 13B RENESIS.

 

Andf I know where its going when it comes to AZ. I'll let you all know when it gets to Arizona.

 

I think your correct, I understand that there are two separate teams working on various 8 upgrades (?). The 8s on the way out of R&D and SOCAL first are standard units with a few refinements (???) (I assume superficial). The ones that I will be most interested in will be coming later.

We in Vegas know where one is going for sure and will post when it gets here.

 

Heh...mainly because "engineers" tend to be geeky lonely dorks who are easily swayed when Phil applies his "hospitality" skills and calls in the bunny ranch to "pump" them for information...

It's where its suppose to be and I will be there about 3:30 pm . Pics will follow after that. I plan on taking lots of pics. I do have a pic on my phone but I'm at work and I have no way to load it and post it.

It's tempting to leave early Phil. But the car will be here for a while. The way they're talking it will be here for a month or more. I do know its an AT not an MT So this wil be good for the Automatic lovers. I'm going to see if they'll let me drive it or at least go for a ride. Pics are not going to be a problem from what I've been told already.

 

AT as in twin clutch AT or normal AT?

 

As far as I know it's the same 6sp AT that's in use now. Haven't heard of a twin clutch AT being available.

 

Used on the 16X...proof of concept of the 7 speed dual clutch flappity paddle trans is in the Taiki...

There was also a release somewhere in an article...I'll see if I can find it...
