My bad for no up date but I was told to keep my trap shut till the time is right. So I cant say any more than what I have.

As for the over heating issue, its no big deal. There is a BMW that has the same prob straight from the factory. I would call for a recall but as far as I know they have not addressed the issue, well on the other hand Mazda has and I give them credit for that.

2008+ release date?, who knows? But I can say this:"statistics have shown that Mazda was messing with the RX-2, what is now the RX-8, back in late 99 and was not released (RX-8) till 2003. based on that, I would say Mazda will not release this one till 2012." Will it look the same? Who knows.

Just for the record: Mike and his cousion have been telling us Vegas guys about this "new rotary" for some time now. A lot of people called BS on him when he was trying to post info about it. Oh well.

I just hope more info will be posted soon. Green light soon

Well I just talked to my buddy at the R&D center.

And he said they were having issues due to shutting the car on and off.

It was flooding.

Now, who in the hell would buy a car and then turn it on and shut it off cold....

You never move your car to get better access under your hood, wheels, or trans? Whenever I work on the car it goes in the center of the garage and thus needs to be moved. It sucks to work on a hot engine, keeping it cool when working = happy hands so it seems i'm guilty of buying a car, turning it on and shutting it off cold. I hate wearing gloves when operating, especially those mechanix ones.

The real only downside I have observed of the rotary so far is the **** can flood when cold.

Stop the press!

A rotary floods upon cold shut down and startup.

Whoa! ...never heard that one before.

16x, a great leap forward

I use the "warm-up" excuse all the time...I don't ever have flooding...

I leave her hot and ridden hard every time...the way it should be...

Cadillac might turn on its drivers...the RX flogs me and calls me a dirty *****...I kinda prefer that instead...heh

you guys seem to forget( and i was doing the same thing recently) that testing is just that- testing. most of the time situations are induced during testing. just because something goes wrong with the engine- heating /flooding whatever doesnt mean anything is wrong. they induce situations to cause these issue- planned events so they can document and make sure systems are responding etc. every new engine and production engine go thru this same testing all the time.

Mazda is aware that we have our ways of finding things out. I kinda feel that they start a lot of this on purpose. The cars were here, the engines had locks so that they could not be opened. Unfortunately I was told "significant more power without FI" and so I jumped on that fact and suggested it was a 16b. I have no knowledge that it in fact is/was a 16b or just an improved engine. Some of our members have seen the units and while the drivers are told not to lie they do not give out to much information. I was told it is actually 2010 model with 07 wrapper and the engine and train need some "hot weather" testing. Some units are to be left in Phoenix area and some in Vegas. I was asked by three different sources not to let the cat out of the bag. I know nothing about flooding but I was told that even in the winter they were having a overheating problems so back to R&D. It is now open knowledge so there be it.

no doubt, thanks for the perspective zoom. i remember working for bmw and hearing all sorts of overheating issues with the m6 during early track testing, but that's still viewed as one of the best engines ever made. they push them so hard during testing to test the "extremes" ... it may or may not mean it's a "real" problem.

Usually for good testing...you test things until they fail...then figure out why to make it better...

Hell, my idea of stress testing my wireless boards is to stick them into an oven while passing traffic and turning the temp up over time to see what fails first...

You will never discover anything unless you are prepared to destroy things along the way...

From what I was told there would be up to three left in Phoenix and two left in Vegas. That does not preclude other areas for testing, those were the only areas that I asked about. The whole plan may be scrapped due to R&D problems but as of now they will return for a 4 month test in the spring. My acquaintances are not very forthcoming with information, it needs the right questions to get the answers you want. Even with the right questions you only get half the story or quiet reflection. Can't understand Mazda's reluctance to talk about their product especially the 8 cuz who else would want to make such a limited production vehicle?
