Some retard :) mentions small people and look where this thread has gone.

Seriously though, this thread should be more on topic than the ancient 'wide rotor 15B' thread.

Back on track we go. Speculate, speculate my people!

Paul.

It's a good thing I like you LionZoo.

Any chance you guys are selling that VR 40th anniversary RX-8 hood you won at sevenstock?:)

rotary crazy 09-27-2007 07:03 PM

I got all the info I need on the future RX models, so no more speculation from me :)

shaunv74 09-27-2007 07:08 PM

1.55L=276fwhp(at current efficiency)
+10% for DI=fw303hp
+5% for Al rotors and housings with Cermet coating=318fwhp
-15% for drivetrain losses=270whp

318hp at the flywheel and 270 at the wheels. That's my speculation for Renesis 2.

jeffe19007 09-27-2007 07:32 PM

I like those numbers. Can we put one in my 8?

shaunv74 09-27-2007 07:33 PM

in 2011:)

cuz most americans think sports cars are only good for running 1/4 miles. what they don't realize is that they're morons. just enjoy the drive. it's worth it.

wine isn't good with beer nuts and fritos, folks.

rotarygod 09-28-2007 01:00 AM

I'm going to say 270 crank horsepower.

zoom44 09-28-2007 01:23 AM

im going to say 285 because id like to believe we are underestimating the T increase with the long stroke

8rotor8 09-28-2007 01:24 AM

I was thinking the same here 270-275 to the crank.

Jedi54 09-28-2007 01:36 AM

I'm going 295-300

terrypk1 09-28-2007 01:38 AM

let's have the HP prediction see who comes closer...i am calling 280 Hp on the crank.

8rotor8 09-28-2007 01:39 AM

Who's willing to trade in their car when and if this comes out?

LionZoo 09-28-2007 01:41 AM

I'm going with 285.

Phil_Hendrie_is_back 09-28-2007 03:55 AM

I'm saying 275.

gh0st 09-28-2007 05:50 AM

wait... is this based on what mazda is gonna claim or reality?

j_tso 09-28-2007 06:53 AM

Reality?

The 13B is only 15% bigger than the 12A and got 30% more power, and that was just in first generation RX-7s.

The last NA 13B put out 160hp, the Renesis puts out 230hp, and that's the same size engine with different ports and jiggling with the plumbing. Now the engine's 23% bigger, plus they're doing more with the plumbing and injection. So, (I believe/hope) over 270hp is very believable.

I'm still not clear on the naming scheme. It used to be (#size)(#version), there was a 13A and the RX-7s technically had the 12B. So either Mazda has been working on this for a while, or it's for marketing to show this is a real HUGE advance.

i think i'll just be getting another car. if the 8 gets a "facelift," the value of ours will be lowered. so then i'll have our current 8 and a new rx?. I need to clean out the other side of the garage.

BaronVonBigmeat 09-28-2007 09:07 AM

Mazda's announced hp for the new engine: 300 hp

Actual hp upon release: 270 at the crank

I understand where you are coming from but there's more to it than just an incrase in power due to a size increase. In fact the 10A engines produced more power than the later 12A engines due to emissions rules. The 12A engines went from 110HP down to about 95 HP at one point. In the 1st gens, the 13B was fuel injected but the 12A was carburated. The intake setup had alot to do with it too.
